I`m from S. Ontario as well, and only just because of this post realized that I do, in fact, pronounce it "melk". It took me more than a few minutes to figure out how else it could be pronounced, until I tried something closer to m"ill"k. That was the best I could figure, and man was it weird sounding.

Being from Guelph, Ontario I always took for granted that tap water tasted good. Really good. In fact, I remember learning in grade school science class that the tap water for Guelph was 98% spring water.

Looks like Nestle Canada discovered that as well.

My excitement for this movie knows no bounds - although I haven't actually looked at any clips in depth. I'm going into it based on my blind love of the books.

A little late to the party, but I just have to say that Rowling didn't draw me in with the writing -- even as a children's book it's not that great.

But it's not bad either. As someone (at 29) who thinks youth literature is far better than most adult fiction, it drew me in from the moment someone gave me the first book as a birthday present I turned 21.

Ok, maybe this is a stupid point, but I have to bring it up.

There are many of you who advocate driving if you have young children. But what if someone has a toddler and can't drive? Is there a difference if the person is simply unwilling to learn to drive, or actually can't?

I ask only because I am relatively young, and have no children. But I may in the future, and I really physically can't drive. What would someone like me do - never travel?

I want to remember the Forty-Two Canadian Soldiers killed in Afghanastan since the mission there began in 2002.

Agreed. It's bad enough when a government wants to prevent me (as a gay woman) gaining rights, it's a whole other ball game to take away something that's been given. Thankfully the combination of the Lib/NDP/BQ numbers will prevent that.

They all have to look for ways to cooperate - that's the general force behind a minority. I didn't vote NDP on the idea that they would NEVER co-operate, just that they wouldn't on things like abortion or SSM.

I fully admit that I am possibly naive, but the idea of any NDP caucus fully or even remotely cooperating with the Alliance is out of my realm of possibility. I choose to believe that in saying "cooperate" Jack meant "pressure" them towards the centre.

It helps me sleep at night to think this, because the day the NDP truly get in bed with the Alliance I move to the Netherlands.
