What about this gray water recovery system?

I'm kicking off a major home renovation and looking for some green innovations I can incorporate without breaking the bank. This gray water recovery system looks promising.

I want 55 5th St. But, noooo!

How are house numbers allotted in Walton County, FL? The fellow at the courthouse said it is determined by distance and has something to do with emergency services. The house right next door to me is 53, but my number is 61. Why isn't it 55? Googling has failed me.

Should I put my house up on poles or pilings?

I'm moving a pre-existing house onto a small lot in NW Florida. The lot is not waterfront. I'm thinking of putting the house 10' up on pilings so I'll have room to park the cars underneath, plus maybe a laundry/storage room. My questions are should I put the house up on poles or build concrete footings and block pilings? Which is best and why? Which is most cost efficient?

Please, help me find a house to move onto my lot!

I need a house to move onto my lot in the Florida panhandle (South Walton County). I don't want a modular or mobile home. I want a real house, even if it's a fixer-upper.

The King's jumpsuits

There was a site posted at mefi a few years back that cataloged all of Elvis' jumpsuits. It was (obviously) the best site in the whole world. I can't find it now. I found something, but it wasn't it.

What is this rare archeology book worth?

I recently came into possession of a book called Archeology of the Florida Gulf Coast by Gordon R. Willey with a copyright of 1949. I would like to know what it's worth. It is in good condition - not great, but good. Googling allowed me to find a reprint edition from 1973 priced at $85.00, but I can't find the value of an original 1949 copy.

Working at Target

What's it like working at a Super Target? There's one opening here in town. I understand they offer some decent benefits. How's the work environment? Would you recommend it?

Google dropped this site

A friend of mine has a little page where he sells books and stuff. He says it used to come up in Google, but no more. Yahoo finds it. It's a free site that came with his internet account, I think. Why did Google lose it? Is it just that Google is blocking these personal sites from this provider, cox.net?

Camping bass?

What is the best bass for a camping trip, short of an upright? I have one, but can't haul and house it in the woods. I also have an acoustic/electric guitar style Washburn bass, but it provides no bottom whatsoever.

Who is the artist?

I remember back in the 70s seeing a story on TV about an artist who filmed himself punching a timeclock every hour 24/7 for a whole year. At the end of the year he had a short time-lapse film of himself punching a clock 365 times. He had shaved his head at the beginning of the year, so you could see his hair growing over the duration of the film. He described how he had to structure his life in order to be able to do the filming every hour and how his mind began to short circuit from not getting enough REM sleep from sleeping in only hour-long stretches at a time. I'd like to see that film again. Does anybody else remember this story and/or who this guy is?

Identify this percussion instrument: I just bought a thing that is a 5' tall stick with a pogo spring on the bottom. It has hi-hat cymbals on the top and a tamborine, cowbell, jingle bells and a woodblock attached to it. You thump this thing on the ground while wacking on everything with a drumstick and it makes a racket that will wake the neighbors. What is it?

Many years ago in junior high, there was a Japanese girl in one of my classes. One day she taught me a couple of examples of what she said was an art in Japan wherein you create representations of things (animals, maybe other things, I don't know) using your hands. It's kind of like origami, but you use your hands instead of paper. I've always thought it was really cool and people get off on it when they see it (some more than others). I have googled with no result. Does anybody know what the name of this is? I have always wanted to know more about it and would like to learn how to make other things besides the frog and the monster. A few pics of what she taught me that day back in school are here. (Note: in order for the monster to be effective sound effects may be needed.)

I remember seeing a site a few years ago about a way to actually plan and grow a house using real, live trees planted strategically in the ground. There was a way the limbs were interwoven or something and it was pretty involved. This, obviously, was supposed to be a long-term project. I don't remember many details, except that I thought it was interesting at the time. Recently I've searched, but can't find anything about it. Maybe I'm not using the right search terms or maybe I just dreamed it. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?
