All I Want for Christmas is a few special moments with my sweetheart.

What are your Christmas traditions? How did you develop your own (rather than doing what your parents did?)

Got (filled) milk?

Have I ruined Thanksgiving? I was shopping for pie ingredients yesterday and picked up a few cans of evaporated filled milk.

Yes, I've acheived my goal of making you feel bad. That's exactly what I wanted. (No really. It is!)

What is it called when the sarcasm is actually masking sincerity?

What destroyed itself, only to emerge better? And don't say Paris Hilton.

Mythology (?) question: I'm looking for a story or creature that must destroy or consume itself in order to either become stronger or to reveal its true form/essence.

Never put pictures on the internet you wouldn't want your neighbor to see.

An acquaintance I see fairly regularly made it pretty easy for people to find him on an online forum that he probably thought would stay private from people he actually knew in real life. Being the curious sort I am, I followed the clearly marked trail, and now I know personal things I'd rather not.

Foreign policy, courtesy of the Morning Zoo

Looking for a Desert Storm-era humor song. The song was about Saddam Hussein, and I remember it from one of the dumb "morning zoo" type radio programs in Cleveland. The lyrics I remember are "He's a middle-east beast/He reads from right to left!/He's a wacky Iraqi."

Beetles are too cute to have dings!

At-home autobody: Does anyone have experience with the ding king dent repair kit or anything similar? I got two small (less than quarter-sized) dings in my less-than-one-month-old (to me) car that are making me quite sad.

Get the Christ out of Christmas

To any non-Christians who celebrate Christmas - what makes the holiday special for you? What is "the true meaning of Christmas" for you? What traditions do you follow, what are your favorite memories, etc.

Help a girl who's clueless about hair.

Is there a resource (web, ideally, but books, etc. are fine too) that shows multiple ways to style basic haircuts? I want it to show a picture of the cut (ex. shoulder-length bob), with lots of options as far as updo's, blow-outs, waves, partial ups, etc. I'm not talking about the 1 or 2 styles it shows in a lot of styling books that are available at the chain salons - I want lots and lots and lots. Is there anything out there?

Avoiding false positive drug results from poppyseeds

Dummy alert: I have just been offered a new position, and the company requires a drug test. I knew this, and ate a poppyseed bagel anyway. When will the possibility of a poppy-induced positive be minimal?

Travel in Punta Gorda, FL

My husband and I will be staying with my very retired aunt and uncle in Punta Gorda, FL, near where my very retired parents stay in their RV. Main objective of the trip is total relaxation, but are there any cool things we should try to see and do that might be under the radar of the snowbird set?

Refinishing Hardwood Floors

Inspired by a number of people moving into my neighborhood and talking about the gorgeous oak floors revealed when they lifted up the carpet, we decided to jump on the bandwagon and ditch the carpet. Besides, with having two puppies this year, it was beginning to get funky. When we tried, we found that the padding was almost disintegrated, powder in some spots, in others stuck to the floor, and not with adhesive. No amount of mineral spirits and elbow grease was making that stuff budge. Also, there are black spots from when we must have missed a puppy accident. In other words, it looks like crap. Google gives me conflicting reports about the salvagability of the floor - some say a good sanding and maybe some bleach will take care of the dark spots, others say the boards will need to be replaced. Any first hand experience with this one? I know refinishing is a must, but will it be worth the effort?

I'm looking for recommendations for a good, relatively inexpensive (hopefully around $30) coffee grinder, and some top of the line gourmet coffee to go along with it for a gift for Mom. She usually drinks Folgers, but was quite impressed with Jamaican Blue Mountain. Forgive the cluelessness, I'm more of a tea girl.

My voice has a nasal sound to it - not high-pitched-nasal, more like it sounds like I have a perpetually stuffy nose. Anything I can work on to change that, or am I stuck?

What were those invisible ink books called?

As I was reflecting on the numerous road trips with the family of my youth, one thing keeps resurfacing: those little activity books with the "magic" pen that revealed the answers, games, etc. The pen was white with an orange cap, and I remember the books being about 12 inches tall and 6 inches wide, with some hip 70's-ish font well into the 80's. What were they called, and where can I get them?

I got a tattoo on my back about two years ago. In the past couple of months, I've found that spot to be itchier than the rest of my back. If I apply lotion, however, it's fine - it feels like the same kind of itchiness I get in the winter with dry skin. There isn't any swelling, and the itching isn't all that bothersome or frequent, so I don't think it's an allergy. Any suggestions for a) why this is occurring or b) other ways to treat it, since I can't reach it myself?

Dealing with my grandmother's dementia?

My grandmother is nearing 90 years old and experiencing increasing effects of dementia. She's been forgetful for a while, but only lately has she started mistaking individuals for others - typically, she thinks I'm a niece of hers, instead of her granddaughter. As her confusion increases, so does my discomfort. I want to spend as much time with her as I can while she's still here, but when entire conversations are filled with misinformation and paranoia (she can't remember where she "hides" money and important objects, so she thinks people steal from her), it's difficult to witness. Any suggestions on how I can get over myself?

I sent out resumes to every school system I was interested in and followed up with the basic "Just want to confirm you received it" blah blah blah. Taking Care of Silk

I have quite a few silk blouses, and I'm curious about the various washing instructions. Some are dry-clean only, others hand wash/line dry, and others still are machine wash/tumble dry. (As well as other assorted combinations). Why all the variations, when all are 100% silk?
