One of the most amazing looking games I've ever seen, from an artistic viewpoint, is Okami. I'm sure gamers have already heard of this one but check out the trailers if you haven't. An absolute labor of love from Clover studio.

I'm about half way through the DVD set, and while it's fun, it's not great, I'm not enjoying it as much as Buffy. The shows are pretty standard fare at the moment.

Perhaps it gets better? Or perhaps it's just not for me. I hope it's the former.

On another note I'm watching the DVD set of Carnivale, and am loving it. So I guess I didn't do too badly with my latest DVD purchases.

I'm still somewhat annoyed over the launch of the SP, right after Christmas, when Nintendo denied that they were planning to fix the problems of the older GBA by releasing a new one in interviews RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Sure it maximised sales, but wasn't exactly a great way to treat their customers.

I just want to make a point about the flu, since that is a disease that is being compared to SARS and causes many, many deaths each year.

No, me either, but it's kind of fun to leave rolling while you're on the phone or something. I read somewhere someone mention it makes a nice screen-saver replacement (oh yeah, the.reg) if you have a constant connection.

Been trying it out, it's pretty slow and buggy on a modem though.

I echo D's suggestions, Silent Hill 1 and 2.

I would also include, Fallout, Deus Ex, System Shock 2...all of these games somehow rose above simply being games and become art for me, full of meaning and metaphor, able to be played again and again and to offer new revelations with each playing.

Again we come up against the fact that there aren't enough studies done in these areas. Is eating marijuana less harmful than smoking it? If smoking marijuana causes lung cancer, does eating it cause mouth cancer? There aren't any long term studies avaliable yet. We don't know.

I too thought it was interesting and impressive. Thanks to linking to it! Regarding navigation I thought it was intuitive and well-implemented.

The site doesn't "take over your computer" it opens a web page that is larger than your screen which makes it look like your desktop (complete with task bar at the bottom and clickable icons) But lots of sites create that effect these days (for no good reason, mostly) whereas this guy has a reason for wanting that effect.

Well, ok, I can assure you there are examples out there, either using chromeless windows and not having included or replaced the menu bar, or having sized the screen so large that the menu isn't viewable.
