I need to become a Guitar Hero master in 3 months... HELP!
5) Getting points is an issue of both getting streaks of notes, and timing your Star Power correctly.
Seconding this. Two perfectly equal players can end up with drastically different scores depending on when star power is deployed. If you're able to put reasonably long streaks together, maximizing the time you're scoring 8x during star power is a huge point bonus.
Look for the sections of each song you're going to be playing... [more]

Good workout today?
Do you listen to music while you workout? She may have been hoping to strike up a conversation, but a set of headphones can be a big "I want alone time" signal to other people.

"I went out to see if I could fall in love again"
In R.E.M.'s The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, Michael Stipe laughs at 2:32 after accidentally mispronouncing 'Dr. Suess' as 'Dr. Zeus', which he had been consistently doing during the recording.
Also, R.E.M.'s Flowers of Guatemala has an irritating feedback squeal at 2:12 just before the guitar solo. I can't imagine how they missed it and left it in.

Sammy Jankis wrote himself endless notes. But he'd get mixed up.
I've found the most important part of a calendar or day-planner is that it's always accessible and you use it constantly. You need to be looking at it 5, 10, 50 times a day.
This type of system may also help your disorganization, especially if you incorporate minutiae into your every-day planning. ie, "put tickets in wallet", "pack camera into bag", "put gym stuff by the front door", etc.

Come out already, damn..
these things make you believe he's gay?
I have to agree with this. Forget about "helping him transition"; you haven't really described characteristics that are particularly gay, outside of him seeming to like hanging around your boyfriend. Like others said, maybe he is genuinely going through a tough time and your boyfriend is someone he connects with. If he got touchy-feely with your boyfriend every time they drink, that's another thing.... [more]

I love asian girls
reduces the individual to a mere trophy and a fantasy
I know this is the only aspect of 'yellow fever' that my Asian significant other brings up as being problematic. Being attracted to a skin tone or body type is one thing, but exoticizing is another. Especially if there's associated stereotypes like passivity or subservience attached, as in the case of the 'creepy guy' already mentioned.

How can I sharpen my mind?
'Brain training' exercises seem to be quite popular these days, but they've definitely had the 'sharpen up' effect on me.
I use Cognitive Fun, mostly because it's free.

All we are saying is give meat a chance.
I actually let myself go hungry a few times rather than eat what was available, which..was not only rude..
At the risk of this not ending well, turning down food offered to you because it contains ingredients you don't eat isn't rude. I'm not sure why you would want to convince yourself otherwise.

Haiti 101
Infections and Inequalities by Paul Farmer is about the social, political and economic determinants of health, particularly the spread of disease.
His primary area of expertise and major case study for the book is Haiti. Considering the work you'll be doing, I'd recommend it highly.

Hūsker Dū?
yet the populace continues to freak out as if they forgot that this was a more or less regular event.
I'm not quite sure why this has to be attributed to people forgetting. A gigantic snowstorm around these parts is a common occurrence, but it still makes the news because roads become dangerous, airports shut down and schools close. I don't think it's because people have forgotten it's a regular event.
Obviously some media... [more]

Overcoming everything to start anew
What can I do with the other 335 hours between therapy appointments that can make my days more bearable?
I know it's a common response, but are you physically active? Your post didn't mention exercise, which is a well-established way of alleviating some of the symptoms you describe. I'm sure as a working single parent your schedule is full, but the feeling of physical pleasure and relaxation that comes after exercise may be the type of experience... [more]

Help me deal with bisexuality.
Yeah, basically I think you're being jealous and insecure. The bisexuality thing is a herring.
Yes and no. Jealously is obviously the root of the problem here, but it's compounded by the fact that the subject of his jealously has something to offer that he doesn't and can never hope to.
I mean, it sounds like he's probably aware that she isn't actually cheating and is looking for a means of getting over his own hangups. The... [more]

Value Headphones (Grado)
I love my SR60s, and was just talking to someone (who also owns a pair) and agreed we'd be happy using these forever. I've found the leaking open-ear design to not be a big problem. I've listened in a moderately quiet office environment without complaints. A silent library might be a problem though.
On the downside, as mentioned, they aren't the type of headphones you can just shove into a gym bag and not worry about. I lost sound in one ear due to a faulty connection... [more]

How can I convince my mom that I won't get AIDS just because I'm gay?
In Canada her statistic would be around 72% - 51% MSM, 4% MSM+IDU, 17% IDU..
It's worth noting that the figures are lower for new infections (46% MSM, 3% MSM+IDU, 14% IDU) and rising for heterosexuals. Whether this calms the fears of someone reading a Christian anti-gay website is a different story.
Also, HIV and AIDS aren't the same thing, and it's somewhat irritating to hear them used interchangeably.

Why is the ability to marry a major impediment to promiscuity?
While I accept that increasing social acceptance and a growing norm of long-term monogamous relationships may change habits, the main impediment to male promiscuity is still women.

UK travel on a budget
If you're looking for a good hostel, my friends and I had a good experience staying at the Generator
I've spent around four weeks total staying at this place, and I'd only recommend it if you're looking for a loud drunken party. It's cheap, but be forewarned if you're looking for a quiet couples vacation.

Wherefore art thou runner's high?
I've felt good or even great on occasion during runs, but this is much different; you would know it if happened to you.
Yes, definitely. I've had lots of good surges of energy while running, but the runners high experience stands apart. It was my first run longer than 30 minutes after years of being sedentary. I don't know if that was what made it happen, but it was fantastic. A complete body buzz and sensation I could have run forever.

Questions about a month-long trip to Iceland.
In case you missed it, Iceland is expensive.
Luckily, it's tourist industry is extremely well organized and operated. Buses depart from the airport to Reykjavik after every major flight, and I was picked up by a bus outside my campground at 5am for my return flight. (After enjoying the Runtur all night, which lead to an amazingly hilarious dismantling of my tent)
I camped for the extent of my June trip, and would do it again in a second with... [more]

A secondary benefit to camping: the bird songs were unbelievably amazing. My tent mate and I would sit in utter awe at the sounds the birds were making. I have no idea if this is an Icelandic, Nordic, or European thing, but it was stunning. It was like standard birdsong remixed by Aphex Twin or Squarepusher.
If anyone else noticed this, please let me know I wasn't just crazy or hopped up on tall-boy cans of Pepsi.

The campsite in Reykjavik had hot showers, and most of the amenities of any campsite I've been to before. The one in Vestmannaeyjar was really just a grassy area at the foot of a large hill. In fact, an area of the island says it's the windiest place on earth, and I believe it. Combined with the rainstorm at Glastonbury two weeks later, a tent has rarely seen such abuse from the elements.
The Lonely Planet you've bought will undoubtedly mention swimming, as several... [more]
