Office War!
That would be awesome. Get a garrison of stormtroopers to turn up and arrest them all, frog march them to the nearest supermarket, and force (no pun intended) their boss to buy EVERYONE ice cream.

Speaker vs Hard Disk
Ironically, the firewire drive is the backup, and although the speakers aren't used very much (only during recording/production), and the drive itself has a cute little rubber rim around its exposed edges, I think I'll find somewhere else to stow it.
Thanks guys!

Lots of white space before HTML table
It's not to do with space before tables, or line breaks. Note how the table appears just after the navigation on the left hand side. The navigation on the left is squeezing the table down below it in IE.
As an alternative to narrowing the table, you could change line 226 of styles.css to read:
margin: 0 10px 20px 150px;
That'll knock out the excess spacing on the right of the full_page div that's pushing it all out of whack.

When am I gonna get my monies, guy?
My current boss, when he was 24, moved to London and looked for a job in Loot. He called up a fairly innocuous looking ad, and two weeks later was Brian Eno's PA. He spent a few years living above a recording studio with his future wife, between jetting around the world to U2 gigs and studios.
Like stubby phillips just told you - an atypical job will find you - but - you've got to make yourself available for it, which (as you're realising) means more than squatting in... [more]

American Blu-Ray Player; European TV - Will it blend?
I've no idea about the HDMI interconnectivity (though I'm convinced that'll be fine), but if they bring a US-voltage Blu-Ray player over here, I hope they've got a nice, fancy means of transforming the power supply for it. Otherwise, they'll have a Blu-Weight instead.

Wanted: Epic London Venue
To clarify, I don't mind spending the money - I was quite prepared to pay for the 100 Club - until I found out they stop serving at 11pm. Which is a bit weak. Forgot to mention that in the OP!

How can I remove items from Wordpress's "Write" SubPanel?
Alternatively, hide them with CSS by making the boxes height:0; and overflow:hidden (maybe even position:absolute; top:0; left:0; too, for good measure). That'll render them pretty invisdible, but still part of the DOM, so no JS errors, and no loadEvent stuff (in which the users may see the boxes flash up before the script executes).

"Clever" music videos?
To this day, I get a mental itch just trying to figure out what that bloke on the floor said when the subtitles abruptly stopped.
He says "Last one on the floor's a rotten egg."
No, really. Watch his lips.

the art of pouring a beer.
When I started in a bar, at Uni, the landlord (it was a freehold pub) came down on me really hard about a lot of things I did, most of all pouring the real ales. His technique was no better than mine, but it was his bar, and I realised that he wanted to let me (and the customers) know who was in charge. Two or three years later, when he sold the pub, we were really good friends, and I still poured the beer the way I had on the first night.
I should point out that I was... [more]

Big Apple Proposal
I'm actually for the Empire State Building. You can go up to the oddly tiny 102nd floor for a little bit of extra money, which is never really that busy (it's not very well advertised). I'm sure if you talk to the staff, they may be able to give you some privacy, if you want edit. When I visited in January, it wasn't cold, the view was amazing, and there was just myself, my friend, and two eerily peaceful staff there for about 10 minutes.... [more]

Catch 22 help needed
Some kind of Escher staircase between a military hospital and the gun turret of a bomber would probably do it.
Or you could do something with eggs begin dropped from planes.

When yanking the Ken lock to bits, the guy managed to dent the underside of the thing so hard that the housing for the RAM was smashed, along with the slot itself. Impressive, really, though the way the Kensington lock failed is worrying.
Shame he covered it in his own blood and paint, after coming in through the window he smashed with a paint can.

Hey! I can hear you two in there!
Having considered it, and having read the other suggestions, I have a great idea.
Install some sort of noise detector that attaches to the main light(s) in the room, that works as a VU meter - loud noises make the lights bright in the room. Put some really high wattage bulbs in there too.
Either it'll work, and they'll shut up, or they'll have some strange sensory experience (and a really good time) in there.

Mobile to Cell Transmogrification
Digital pen? A stylus?
Anyway. If it were me, I'd fork out £80 or so quid for a second hand W800i on eBay in the UK, get an Orange PAYG sim card from Bob's Mobiles (as the W800i is probably locked to Orange, so you might as well), then get an iPhone when you get back to the States.
As it's you, and you're clearly not as excited by the iPhone as I (and I imagine chrismear) am... uh... are, you should probably get a W810i or K800i (bit big for my... [more]

To clarify the above posts:
If you buy a hanset only (sim free) phone, you can then trot off and buy a PAYG sim card anywhere you like.
As an alternative, I'd suggest having a look at Carphone Warehouse's Pay As You Go Shop, where handsets that aren't tied to a contract (but they are locked to a network [unlock it at Bob's Mobiles for £10 before you fly back]) are selling for less than half the cost of a sim free handset.... [more]

Ditto the comments about Rosetta if you're running (notoriously slow) MS Office, which is PowerPC native, and even runs badly on PowerPC Macs. Go Microsoft!

By 'decent jolt', nathan_teske means 'lethal jolt'.
That said, I've taken countless G3 iMacs apart, and as long as you don't go poking around bits that you clearly shouldn't (you don't need to touch anything related to the CRT), you'll be fine.

How to stop my cats chewing wires?
Also, cats LOVE earwax. You probably know this already, but I imagine it makes your headphones a lot more delicious than you think they are.
Try it, stick your finger in your ear and present it to your cat.

How to split a.iso into 2 .iso?
Two step solution:
1) Get a Mac.
2) Use FastDVDCopy to copy the ISO's you have mounted on the Mac onto a single-layer DVD.
It'll automatically reencode the video to fit your blanks, and even gives you the option to drop specific special features, language translations and so on, to give more room for higher quality video.

If I was gonna get it back through customs, I'd leave the empty box back in the US, or maybe mail it back to myself. It'd look just as if I'd brought the laptop with me. In fact, I've every intention of CarbonCopyCloning my current laptop onto a firewire disk and restoring it when I got the new laptop.
Amazon seems like a good idea - I'm there for 10 days, and would be able to get it delivered.

London?
Living in Upper Holloway (Around the Kentish Town/Tufnell Park/Islignton area) I'd say North London's pretty fun, but it's not settling down territory, unless you're further North East, in say - Crouch End, which is lovely (I was there tonight, and a barmaid old me that I was 'a very attractive man' - bonus points for Crouch End). Thing is, it's not too well connected for transport - no tube.
Try looking around Notting Hill. There's some lovely places round there - and... [more]

MacFilter: Switch to MacBook or MacBook Pro
I chose the MacBook over the Pro. Granted, the massive price difference was a factor, but looking at the specs, it was much more sensible to get the Black MacBook. Effectively, the same spec as the Pro, faster, even, with the 2gb RAM added. I upgraded my hard disk to a 7200rpm 100gb drive, because I *could*, and the keyboard is lovely. It really is a matter of taste.
My Dad bought the Pro, and I'm glad I didn't - it's a little too big to be as portable as I'd like to be.... [more]

57 channels and nothing (on my G4)
Something like this would do it, if you have USB 2.0 ports, which I'm skeptical that your G4/500 does.
That said, there are plenty of similar (older) firewire and USB 1.0 devices on eBay that would do just what you're after. Search for Miglia or Elgato.
