Professional Response In Relation To Private Situation?
Thank you for all of your responses so far.
To fill in some additional details...
I no longer consider this person a friend. I just wasn't sure how else to refer to her for the sake of this discussion. "Enemy" or "Foe" sound a little too "90120" to me and 'Frenemy' too "Sex in The City."
I don't really want to get into the particulars of the banning, but, in my biased opinion, it... [more]

Also, Balls: dead-to-me behavior.
Wow, that's really exactly what I've been saying about her for the last three months. Again, just to make it clear how I feel here.

"You say the particulars aren't important but something isn't lining up here."
While I think my wife and I are entirely in the right and I can't see how any reasonable person would think otherwise, the bottom line is that former friend thinks the ban was justified and I do not. Going into the details about this would be silly, since the actual act of banning from the house is what has me pissed off. Furthermore, you'd only be hearing my... [more]

Gifts for Nuns?
Dagobert: She's been my friend for years. She's just recently become a nun.
Pineapplicious: Heh. You know, she's a big fan of 80's alternative rock. We saw the Replacements together in the late 80's. I'm glad you asked this, though, because its made me think that somehow becoming a nun made her forget all of the stuff that she used to like. However, last year, we just took her out for a big dinner and a bunch of us chipped in. Speaking of which, as of last year,... [more]

Hilarious Shakespeare?
Let me go lowbrow here and propose that the funniest scene in Shakespeare may, in fact, be the scene in Comedy of Errors where Dromio of Syracuse relates his encounter with his twins' wife, Nell, to his master, Antipholus of Syracuse. He spends a good deal of time comparing her to a glove, specifically detailing which part of her body is which country and why. The description of Nell is so vividly awful that every time I've seen it performed, the audience has screamed with... [more]

Crimes committed by Ferris Bueller during his Day off.
I can't help but think that the little old lady who can barely be seen above the steering wheel is committing some sort of moving violation involving driving with an obstructed view.
Also, did anyone mention Rooney's home invasion crime? He does, after all, enter the house illegally.

How can we turn a night at the bar into something more bachelor partyesque?
At my bachelor party (held at an ice cream parlor, so even more tame than yours) somebody brought a pack of men's cotton briefs and a bunch of markers. Every bizarre or ribald thing you can imagine ended up drawn on them. When they brought me home, the two friends who drove me around wouldn't leave until I showed each pair to my wife to be.
It was hilarious for her and them and even mostly to me. We still have a couple of especially funny pairs sitting around.

I am a human being! Not a tape recorder!
I find that I try to go through the text three times on book and then put it down and try to play the scene, returning to the text afterwards to look for errors and work on accuracy.
I find that if I can identify the reasons why the character is saying the things he is saying and play the general gist of the scene, it is much easier for me to remember the lines.
I also like to get rid of the script as soon as I can in rehearsal so I can play more... [more]

Dating Etiquette Confusion
I called my wife the day after our first date to tell her how amazing I thought she was. Apparently, that worked.
Seriously, though, in my opinion, this is a "do unto others as you'd have done unto you" scenario. If you would like to receive an email the next day from your date, then you should send an email the next day. Know what I mean?

I came back to work on Monday determined to get to the bottom of this whole situation.

After some thought, here are some ideas. Mostly food related.
Leonard's Bakery on Kapahulu is the place for Malasadas. They can get a box and should eat them while they're hot. There is no shame in standing outside of Leonard's and eating the whole box.
Green Door Cafe, now by Kahala Mall, is this fantastic Malaysian food place. Seriously, if they've never had Malaysian food before, it is something they must do.

In riches or in poverty, in sickness or in health
My wife of five months and I were determined to write our own vows.
However, we had other wedding priorities (our reception was a major production and we had a ton of stuff to coordinate and plan). Thus, two nights before the wedding, we looked at some more generic wedding vows that the judge that was going to perform our wedding had shown us.
We made some small decisions and she made some notes.

Wherever we go, there we are, but where from?
I first heard it as "Remember: no matter where you go, there you are" from 1985's "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome," which makes me tragically unhip. However, the Quotations page cites Earl Max Rauch as the originator. Mr. Rauch, of course was the screenwriter for "Buckaroo Banzai."
Of course, at Brainyquotes , you can find the quote "And remember, no matter where you go, there you are" attributed to Confucius.... [more]

I confess, after reading through a few more links, I am leaning towards Buddha as the source. While the quote is not outside the scope of what Confucius might have said, it seems to be more consistent with Buddhist philosophy. However, I think I would need to see a definitive non-Internet, pre "Buckaroo Banzai" citation to really be 100% certain of this.
Anyhow, the circumstantial evidence is, in my non-expert opinion, in favor of Buddha.

To the best of my knowledge, the Tigers never had a real tiger as a mascot. On preview, I see Mr. Grimes has already mentioned the Bulls incident, which I also figured you might be thinking of.

Why does our dog whine when we give him a new toy?
I can't find a link to support this, but I swear I read this was a behavior common among pugs and is tied in to what several folks have mentioned - the inherent desire to hide the toy.
It is entirely possible that your pug doesn't even know that hiding the toy is an option (especially if he never saw an older dog doing it). He does, however, instinctually know that there is something he is supposed to do with the toy but can't figure out what that might be.... [more]

It sucks, but it is in the terms and conditionsof most credit cards somewhere. I wouldn't have known to ask for the pay-off amount when I did a similar thing recently if it weren't for the fact that my girlfriend the economics major hadn't told me.

It is also worth mentioning that his choice of major is not necessarily dictating a life path. He could major in one thing and end up doing something completely unrelated. A major just provides a focus to your college years. It usually doesn't lock you into that particular focus.

Help me find comedy 'rules'?
Coming from a theatre/improv background, my take is that the one almost surefire thing that people will almost always find funny on stage is something that they recognize to be true. Whether that thing is true or not is sort of not relevant - if they believe it is true, they will react to it.
That being said, you can have the greatest comedy script in the world and it will suck if the actors lack the "it" factor. What it is? Timing? Innate ability?... [more]
