Another interesting footnote: "Asl" means "genuine" in Farsi. I've never run across an Iranian with that last name. Particularly one with the first name "Armen", which suggests he's an Armenian-Iranian. It would follow that his real surname would end with "-ian", as does every other Armenian surname I've ever heard. My mom made three pies this Thanksgiving. She'd picked and frozen some black mulberries last summer, which she used to make two otherworldly pies. I'd never heard of or tasted mulberry pie, and if you haven't either, you absolutely have to give it a try.
