How do I reliably detect counterfeit currency?
After actually inspecting the money in person and hearing the backstory behind the loan from my mom just now, I don't think the money is counterfeit. I went through it all with a magnifying glass (that microprinting is so damn small!).
There was a deleted comment from cmiller (i think; idk; thanks mods!) about the possibility of money laundering, that made me think... [more]

Medialess
It sounds like chuckdarwin has a key already and just needs the media to reinstall from.
You can get just the replacement media (if that's all you need) from Microsoft, but, it's possible that your office key is an OEM key and might not work with the retail/replacement media anyway.

Prilosec needs a 4 month break?
Just googling around, I found this:Taking Prilosec OTC beyond 14 days is not recommended, perhaps because in Prilosec's early research its long-term use in rats produced increased rates of gastrointestinal cancers. You won't read about this in the Prilosec OTC label, but it is contained in the prescription Prilosec package insert and the Physicians' Desk Reference.from here.
Probably something you would want to discuss with your doctor.... [more]

Best console for crime?
People are saying that the Xbox 360 version runs at a slightly higher resolution (720p vs the PS3 630p). This doesn't seem to be apparent in the end visuals, however. It is apparent when playing at 720p, as the PS3 version is a little blurrier as it needs to be rescaled from 630p to 720p, and the x360 is a little sharper at 720p, as it's at the native resolution. As to which is more visually pleasing though that's pretty much left to individual preference.... [more]

A bottle of vodka?
I don't see an answer for this, so i'm askin': You actually bought+paid for the PC right, and it's not like he's giving you the PC completely for free, right? And the bottle of vodka is just a gift for services rendered (and not the physical hardware), right?

Where can I find Baked Doritos Cooler Ranch Tortilla Chips
I think he's looking for the "Baked Doritos" variation of Doritos. Here's a link to a product description and image of the product he wants. A search online so far hasn't turned up any place to buy it though, and, Frito-Lay's website doesn't even list it anymore. Sorry. :(
There's this multipak (vending machine size?) that has a picture that shows cooler ranch, but, the product name indicates Nacho Cheese. You may want to call them up and see if they actually have cooler... [more]

Will someone marry my keyboard?
When does the computer complain about the keyboard? Is this just a "no keyboard detected - press f1 to continue" that the system is balking at? You might be able to disable that error in the bios, if that's what's causing the problem. I can't think of any other reason why the computer would complain about it.

The double click just isn't always good enough
Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types -> PDF -> Advanced -> New
Action: "Edit"
Application used: "C:\Path\to\Application\App.exe" "%1"

Doing that will add a new option to the right click menu, so it would become right click -> click, rather than whatever you're doing now.

You don't need to edit the registry for this, as Windows provides an interface for you to do it. Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types
Why anyone would recommend making registry edits over using the built-in interface for something to anyone is beyond me.

He's no blue blood, but it's still worth something.
There are some ultra-rare blood types such as Bombay blood that would probably be interesting in this regard. People with Bombay blood can only recieve blood from donors with Bombay blood, and no one else, and, in the case of a medical emergency where blood was needed, there'd only be a very small number of people that could provide it. I'm not sure if money is any factor in this, but, given the scarcity of these rare blood types, urgency in medical situations may play a factor, if he only... [more]

CMV assays are part of the standard screening for non-directed blood donation (donations not specified for a particular patient) in the U.S. CMV-negative donations are then earmarked for transfusion to infants or immunocompromised patients. Some blood donation centers maintain lists of donors whose blood is CMV negative due to special demands. [wikipedia]

'Woo Hoo!" or "Yoshi!"?
In this one random youtube video, Yoshi says "Wahoo!" or something like that. I don't know if this is a definitive answer or not though, as Yoshi may say other things in other minigames. But, I don't really think so.

I think you and your husband should listen to the clip yourselves, (without showing him this thread, so that the answers here don't unduly influence him), decide your bet, and return to us with an answer. Posthaste.

You can't pay off your balance until the first statement is actually cut and sent to you. This is typical of most credit cards. Some kind of fraud prevention, I guess.

Oh, and about the "no pre-set limit" thing; instead of having a pre-set credit limit, AmEx has something called an "exposure limit" which basically is determined at time of purchase. It's not exactly "pre-set" and it can fluctuate based on your spending habits (frequency/type/number of purchases) and payments, etc. Too large a single purchase, or too many small purchases in a very short time period can trigger hitting the exposure limit. Mostly in the name of fraud... [more]

AHCI gives me a headache...
I have this exact motherboard, and there are 8 sata ports. 6 are Intel SATA ports and 2 are Gigabyte SATA ports. I am using the Intel SATA ports in AHCI mode with my SATA drives, and am not using the Gigabyte SATA ports. (Some benchmarking showed that they were slightly faster anyway.)
The "SATA RAID/AHCI Mode" option listed in the "Integrated Peripherals" page in the BIOS is for the Intel SATA Ports. I would recommend using the Intel SATA ports... [more]

Anyway, bottom line, use the Intel SATA ports for AHCI, and leave the Onboard gigabyte SATA/IDE controller in IDE mode for IDE devices.

You should only need to install the drivers once, (unless you completely reinstall). But, if the drivers aren't there for whatever reason when booting up under AHCI for whatever reason, Windows XP will generate a STOP 0x7B blue screen. Vista should work with AHCI natively.
Oh, and make sure you're installing the right AHCI drivers (Intel vs Gigabyte).

Also, I strongly recommend slipstreaming SP2 as Skorgu mentioned. You'll might still need to do the F6 thing for the AHCI driver, (unless you slipstream that too, but, that's non-trivial IMHO).

Is VYPER worth it?
Gaming mode is used to reduce lag from the scaler at the cost of some image quality. Whether or not you actually need it or not depends on your tv and the type of games that you play. Every fraction of a second of responsiveness is useful in a fps or something, but, not so much in a rpg. Also, if you're doing HD gaming from a xbox 360 or a PS3, gaming mode might not be needed (depending on your tv) if you're playing at the native resolution of your TV.
This isn't used... [more]
