What exactly is Patton Oswalt saying?
"They're gonna think I'm lame!"
"They're going to think I'm too stuck up."
"They're going to laugh at me!"
"They're not going to understand why I did what I did."
"They must be so ashamed of me."
"They hate me because I'm smart/silly/dumb/sarcastic/ugly/fat...."

What is the feeling of having a feeling, of knowing a feeling, and following a feeling?
TomMelee, I know from your previous answers in AskMe that you do incredible, hard, amazing, life-saving work. You give a LOT to those around you. I wonder if you're not keeping ANY for yourself?
You're a very awesome person who is probably quite depressed, and has just experienced a tragedy. Please be very gentle with yourself right now, and when the smoke clears....maybe you can take a new tack on things.
You do so much for so many, do for you, too.

How do I not sweat the small stuff...literally?
I have the same problem and while Certain-Dri doesn't work for me, a friend who has this problem even WORSE than me (and as bad as you) tried it and it completely stopped her sweating. 43 years old and it's like she was just born!

How do I quit vegetarianism?
I didn't eat beef or pork for about 15 years, and when I first went back to meat I literally had a steak every night for 5 nights and was never happier.

Chronic Dry, Chapped Lips
For everyone raving about Kiehl's #1 - you could really save yourself money and just use Vaseline.
Kiehl's is 91% petrolatum and about $10 per .5 oz tube, Vaseline is 100% petrolatum and about $3 for 12 oz.
(My favorite is Trader Joe's store brand, green and white tube)

I love you short time
I have no wish to take a break from dating. That seems like a change that is not needed - if I meet and talk to people I can learn to change, if I avoid people, after 3 years I'll be the same, perhaps to myopic to see my own flaws...
Oy, vey - you're not getting it at all. The break is not to avoid people, it's to spend time learning about yourself and your own flaws.... (which therapy would help, but you can also explore on your own).... [more]

You know, something I'm not sure anyone has said yet in all this - good for you for taking the first step towards figuring this stuff out. It's hard, even to ask a bunch of internet strangers, when we're having trouble and are struggling. It's really cool that you're trying to work on it - don't give up!

Dog Experts, I Need You. *So* Much.
This sucks. You need to either find a friend as nice as you to take YOUR dog while you have Stinky, or have that same nice friend take Stinky themselves and you just don't tell Stinky's owner that Stinky lived elsewhere for a few weeks.

Agony of de feet :(
OK, here ya go - keep a bottle of aloe in your fridge, and when you get home (or whenever your feet are really bothering you), rinse them off quickly in COLD water, then slather on e VERY thin layer of the cold aloe. Prop them up and read a magazine for 5-10 minutes.

How do I get my neighbors' dog to stop jumping on me?
This dog is gonna bite a kid in the face someday when it's out roaming the hood, or knock over an old lady and break her hip, or run in front of a car that then swerves and kills someone, or.....worse.
Tell me again why you won't call animal control?
Also think about how you'll feel if something like the above DOES happen and you did nothing to stop it.

The more I think about this question, the more concern I feel for the GF's actively negative reaction to being touched. it's not just that she's indifferent or can't get "hot", it's that she actively recoils and stiffens, or gets angry. This is really bad, and is exactly how someone would likely react if their best friend stuck his hand down their pants - "Ewww, jesus, get the hell away from me!"

Embiggen My Puny Arms!
(From mr. tristeza)
When it comes to arms rather than upper body generally, dumbells are great to exercise with. You can use them singly, as a pair and you can add weight to them even if they are not the adjustable kind with one or two ankle weights, which are also handy.
It's a lot easier to do useful exercises if you have a bench, so I'd look into picking one of those up at a garage sale (or often just on the street). A lot of people exercise... [more]

"Mr. Tristeza" here again:
I totally concur with the adjustable dumbell suggestion - they are ideal. But since, in my experience, the three things that kill exercise programs are:
1) embarrassment
2) frustration at not finding doable exercises
3) inconvenience
I didn't want the OP to get discouraged if he'd gone and bought single-weight dumbbells. They are still... [more]

My folks (lived in MA for 60 years) bought a fully furnished, 2 bed/2 bath, 5 room house, with 2 car garage, yard and enclosed lanai - for $190,000.
They go everywhere on their golf carts.
There are, literally, activities all day every day, for pretty much ANYTHING you might enjoy.

It's much like any other neighborhood/homeowners association in the US - there are rules about such things (I don't know them well or how stringent they are, honestly). But it's like, no junk cars in your front yard, houses have to be painted from a certain palette, can't leave garbage cans out, that kind of stuff.

It's not that there's nothing to do in central/north-central Florida—there's just not a massive concentration of things to do in one place.

Define this bewildering quote for me!
Makes no sense to me, but I asked a friend for his thoughts:
"This undoubtedly refers to a coastal bridge - more of a bridge across a harbor than a bridge across a river. In the times that many towns and cities were created, one side of a harbor was buildable and one side - usually a sandy, marshy part - was not. So even though these communities are very close to each other as the crow flies, they can be very different. Eventually this causes problems when someone... [more]
