I can't get my Mac laptop's internal speakers to work -- they just stopped one day. When I press the volume adjust buttons, the little bars don't move, and the classic circle-with-bar-through-it appears. I've checked the volume in System Preferences, and the "mute" button is not selected by accident.

I have the chance to interview Alexyss Tylor (
previously on the blue) over the the telephone next week. I'm excited, and I know it could be good. But I'm having trouble here -- because all I can think to ask is along the lines of "Why are you LIKE that?"
She's serious about what she does, and takes herself seriously. Can you suggest some intelligent, fair questions to ask Alexyss that won't treat her like a freak or a laughingstock?

I need to find an apartment in New York City, quickly, moving from Adams-Morgan in DC. I am looking to live in Brooklyn somewhere, maybe along the L train or the J/M/Z. Apart from Williamsburg hipster haven, can any of you recommend areas that are some combination of affordable and safe?
