Why can't I find a sincere man?
I don't know whether this is my imagination or the result of a faulty memory, but I recall reading this identical message a couple of years ago, either here or somewhere else. Could it be coincidence == or something else?

Lex Luther vs. the San Andreas fault-line
And if all this is true, would somebody like to buy the vacant lot I bought on the landward side of the San Andreas fault? I was hoping for a beach house after the big one, but that might not work out.

Quantum Physics
If anyone is still following this thread it may well be worth noting that:
1. The founding father's of quantum mechanical theory all agreed that it was not about reality but about the shadows on the wall of Plato's cave. See the introduction to Wilbur's Quantum Questions
2. Any theory or interpretation of physics is grounded in the metaphysical views held by the theorist or the interpreter. A theory (deriving from the same root as theatre) is a way of seeing. It may... [more]

Venizia Biennale Recommendations
Seeing the Biennale could welll take up all your time and your energy. It is the most important contemporary art show in the world and the biggest. Of course, if you don't know Venice, or even if you do, walking arournd, getting lost, sitting down and ordering an espresso or a gelatto, and then wandering further has been for me one of the most joyful adventures I can imagine. The city is full of surprises.Take a vaporetto to Lido and explore. That's where they filmed Death in Venice, or if its... [more]

All you have to do is arrange with a bank to buy Euros and have some place to deposit them. Currency are traded like stocks. But be careful because the rates that are published in the papers are probably not the rates you will be offered. There are a lot of different rates. The only other thing to be careful of is that if you buy more than $10,000 worth you have to report this to the IRS or US customs. They worry about money laundering and tax avoidance, of course.... But isn't there also the model of Paris, May 1968? Not a civil war by American standards but the weeks of demonstrations did succeed in bringing down an elected government. Of course they have a different system of government there were elections may be forced. I wonder though if there might not be, given enough public pressure, some way that might be suggested and even acted on in a not so United States of America.

Most galleries charge 50% these days so by giving you a 40% discount he was probably still doing better than if you had bought it from his dealer. But his dealer certainly wouldn't be pleased about this. A good dealer takes a lot of risk. He not only shows the work but he also markets it - publicizes it, shows it to potential collectors and hooks the artist into an artworld social scene where he or she can do their own networking. He also knows that a lot of artists do what this one did.... [more]

Thanks all. Its the 'neat' stuff' that I'm after, no added anything. And I guess that using fresh, unroasted nuts is my best bet or maybe a mix with the powder which has been sitting in the fridge for a couple of weeks . The problem is that at the weekly organic market near where I live they don't specify whether the nuts are fresh, dry or roasted. I don't think they know. They just buy them in and expect the buyer to know. Anyway, if that doesn't work I'm off to the Farmer's Market in LA where... [more]
