Coulton Plays the Chitlin Circuit
Will there be a food/drink stop before hand?! I'd like to come but i don't think I'll go to the show. Perhaps I could interest the interested in a beer at the yacht club?

Monju, I beg of you, please don't leave us! Or come back to us if you've already gone (I can't recall seeing posts or comments by you in bit...). Please.
Rothko, it's a shame that you had to jump into this thread with such abandon. Cause Krrrlson is totally overreacting. And we probably would have discovered that, if your shrill raving hadn't derailed us...

I agree that this is suspicious.
The only way to know is either for Maxor to fess up, "I got fooled" or to fess up, "I am friends with the site owner / sub-standard-meme initiator." It's definitely possible that even if the site is a hoax, that Maxor is not at fault.

clock, you owe scarabic, and others (like the Suicide girls themselves) an apology. Seriously.
I don't want to see you banned, but your conduct in that thread was uncalled for and immature. You don't like pornography. Cool. But calling all women who appear naked in photographs sluts and junkies is quite a bit too much.
Matt's not being offended does not mean that you were not being offensive.

I think that tagging your own work (threads) in this case, is a start, but that the true power of del.icio.us and flickr are that anyone can tag any piece of content.
Just saying that I'm looking at this gift pony's teeth and this badboy is ripe for some equestrian orthodontetry. Dig?
Tags are better when the folksonomy can just devleop. If I take the time to go through my posts, which I will, because there are like 5 of them, I could be stymied... [more]

I believe the deadline for the MeFi Design Contest...
I didn't enter, but here's my take on the top "header" bar. I think the rest of the design would be very simple and spare. I like the idea of keeping the colors of each of the sites, but letting them fade into the background. I think having a small set of links on the far right that are contextual to each site would be nice and could be expanded (the ad bar and such would go below).
So, here they are: metafilter, metatalk, ask.metafilter.... [more]

Would it be possible, when comments are deleted,...
I have been wanting this for years. I vote yes on this particular brand of equine goodness.
A little indicator would make it clear when comments have been removed. It's so disorienting to go into a thread and no be able to follow it because Matt's removed some insanity by whomever (quonsar) and everybody's responding to it, but we can't tell. His original comment has disappeared without a trace.... [more]

Seth, I'm afraid that the cure may be more painful than the disease.
Everyone should use their best writing (including spelling and grammar on the site). Except for TCS and quonsar. But there's no way to call out misspellings and mistakes and such without adding useless "hey bud, forgot your comma there didn'tcha?!" comments all over metafilter.
This addition of noise (compared to the sweet sweet signal) is going to be a royal pain. So... [more]

Quonsar snarks big. Film at 11.
Jeez people, when will you stop stating the obvious? And DooHickie, please call out Q in a thread soon. He loves it when people do that.
Note: I'm a HUGE fan of the argument above. The best metafilter members know when to post 'em and know when to fold 'em. So fuck off about posting-to-commenting ratios. It's a red-herring.

I can get drop here (in NYC). But stroopwafels!! Jeez, this is a better idea than I give myself credit for!
Perhaps I should get to work coding something up. There are some non-php-type problems though, problems that don't show up in the mefi-swap.

But really, lots of threads are shit on metafilter. Only we can make it better. So the next time you see an op-ed like this, for god's sake (hell, for everybod's sake), stop and take a deep breath. Take another. Then do one of two things. Either

Hey, I've got an idea. Post it to your blog. Email it to a friend or two (metafilterian or not) If it's good enough, it'll get here.
If it's not good enough, you did your part by putting it on the web. A page shouldn't be in the blue if an independent third party member doesn't notice it's goodness.
[Note: This is sometimes stated with all friendliness as 'Get your own blog, fuckwit!']

Being a good metafilterian does not require, nay, does not even encourage, posting. If every member posted, we'd all cry. I've been a member here for four years and I've made four posts (er, on preview, I've made six).
