Ask post: Oh no! Not butternut squash risotto again.
Do you eat tempeh and seitan? Tofu is ok, I really do love it, but I've been getting into tempeh and seitan pretty heavy, and you can do all sorts of things with them, esp. seitan.

Ask post: Out of State Seatbelt Ticket
Depending on who your insurance carrier is, they might not even check your record, until your policy comes up for renewal, and then it's still only a possibility. If you switch carriers or something, then it'll definitely turn up.

Ask post: Vegans do it without animal products.
This may be a bit much for an office party, but it is delish (though I have only made vegetarian versions, not the prescribed vegan version, and I sub zuke for the mushrooms):

Ask post: Cooking more with yonder crockpot.
Seriously some of the best and easiest soup I've ever made:

2 cans cream of celery condensed soup.
Put condensed soup in crockpot, and add one can of milk/soymilk.
Add one 8 oz. brick of good sharp cheddar, cut into little blocks.
Stir to combine soup/milk.
Heat on low, 3-4 hours. Stir it just occasionally to ensure it's not burning on the bottom. You want the cheese cubes to start to melt, but not totally.... [more]

Ask post: How do I let him know I'm interested?
Speaking from some experience (long ago), just to play devil's advocate, these situations can work out sometimes, as long as all involved are honest about their motives, goals, and concerned about whatever might happen afterwards.

What CunningLinguist said. However, when I download tunes from emusic into the emusic folder, and then have iTunes import that folder, I find iTunes does not delete the initial files. I have to do that manually.

Ask post: The white grout . . . not such a good idea.
How much floor are we talking about? If you decide to regrout, rather than going the screwdriver route (which might not be too bad on a small floor but still sounds like a lot of work), you can buy a tool made especially for scraping old grout out. I believe there are manual versions as well as types that attach to power tools. Piece of cake to use, and it's gotta be much faster than a screwdriver.

Thirding Suburbia (and I liked it too, back in my "hate everyone" punk days).

Jack (Chris Pederson), the lead in the movie, went on to star in Platoon, and even appeared on Baywatch. He and Bill Coyne, who played Ethan, were the only professional actors (at the time) in the movie. It also features performances by TSOL, DI, and The Vandals.

Ask post: Cure for a boyfriend induced stomachache?
Not going to look for it (at work), but I have seen ads for supplements that will change the flavor of ejaculate (I even think they came in different flavors - berry and whatnot).

But maybe a question - do you like to swallow? Is it something that turns him on? Would it detract from the sex to handle it another way (i.e. ejaculate on your chest, back, tummy, whatever)?

Ask post: Let There Be Light!
Can you get into the crawl space? If so, and you locate the former boxes (if indeed there are any), just drill a small home down through the ceiling, maybe dangle something through it so you'll know precisely where you drilled, and voila, you'll know where to cut through the plaster.

Ask post: Can I get over what happened in my boyfriend's past?
Apparently he found somthing attractive in how repulsive it was.

This stuck out for me. It sounds, IMHO, like he didn't get off on the fact they were underage, or fantasize about any prurient activity. It sounds like more of a fleeting sick fascination, the same reason some people will watch the sick shit or Stile but never contemplate undertaking anything similar in real life. More of a "holy crap, I can't believe they do that.... [more]

Ask post: What is a good team outing in Ottawa, Ontario?
Something a team here is doing that I found cool is getting together for a "team building" day that will actually involve building playsets to give to the Salvation Army.

So, I'd encourage you to think about an activity that is fun, can involve everyone, and also has the bonus of giving something to your local community.

Or, paintball.

Do you use any sort of teeth whitening system? When I did that before our wedding, I noticed it made my teeth much more porous, and hence much more suseptible to staining from red wine.

Ask post: WTF is my cat doing?
Might be normal as most have suggested, but (ahem) he also might have a blocked anal gland. If he seems to be sensitive about any scratching or petting near his tail or on the back of his legs, get him to a vet stat. You do not want that sucker exploding.

Ask post: simple canning resources
Good advice and simple instructions to be found here. It is much easier than you think; this was my first summer canning, and I canned 130+ pints of relishes, pickels, salsas, peppers, beets, and whatnot for our wedding reception. It's a little time-consuming, but it's easy to do other stuff (read, clean, cook, drink copious amounts of wine) while waiting for the stuff to cook and the water to boil.

Disclaimer - probably not a good idea to drink too much, especially if... [more]

Oooh, I've had something similar happen (and I've never mounted anything in my life either!). Has it been unplugged for a period of time recently? Here's what worked for me, after I determined that the silly computer was looking for the operating system in the A drive and then quitting when it didn't find anything (which sounds similar to your problem).

There should be some settings in your BIOS that allows you to change your boot configuration. Check this, and make... [more]

I'll just agree with everyone else - all good ideas, and now I too am in tears. We lost our cat a few years ago to cancer, and the last few months of her life she got to go outside whenever the sun was shining (she loved to bask - fenced-in yard, I was always right there with her), lots of good food (I've found that the tuna/salmon/shrimp that comes packaged in those nifty foil pouches was her favorite, that and Buddig meat!), and lots of loving from us. Do take pictures (my favorite photo of... [more]
