MeTa post: Metafilter comments vs. Youtube comments
This fixes Youtube.

MeTa post: Queuing questions.
In the sub-basement of what was once an industrial park, the server continued asking questions to the void. The network was long-gone--the ethernet cables vaporized right where they emerged to the surface--but this didn't stop the server. It had a queue.

context for this brilliant comment.

MeTa post: I want to know what MetaFilter is thinking.
Who would make these polls? How would they be worded? How many thousands of threads would be spawned arguing about them?

MeTa post: Forgotten?
There's a surprising number of people living in Kazakhstan.

Methinks many of these have forgotten the negative sign on their longitude, especially since they list their home as Maryland or the like.

(I'm operating on the assumption that pirating music that was released more than 50 years ago, by a recording company that no longer exists and whose assets don't appear to have been purchased, is not really pirating.)

Yeah those two tracks I can't identify, so I just cleaned them up as best I could in Audacity and ClickRepair (the latter being one of the more astounding pieces of software I've ever seen).

Any MeFites played around with developing applications for it yet?

I'm working on an isketch/pictionary game.

MeTa post: October Philly Meetup?
Would pre-halloween work for people? Evening of Fri 26th or Sat 27th?

Or would the first weekend in November work better?
posted to MetaTalk by dmd at 8:18 AM on October 14, 2007
I'm not the one to ask, being a nondrinker who has no ideas regarding these "bars" and such. Someone else, say a place, and we'll go with it.
posted to MetaTalk by dmd at 4:52 PM on October 14, 2007
Eulogy it is. If it's too crowded, we'll just meet there and move on.

I really want desuetude to be able to make it.

Would people be able to make Nov 2?
posted to MetaTalk by dmd at 3:23 PM on October 15, 2007
miagaille's good for Friday too.

Let's make it Friday at Eulogy. Let's call it 7:30?

MeTa post: If you missed it, you were probably a female MeFite out grocery shopping with coupons for OJ.
Just in case you need more than one.
posted to MetaTalk by dmd at 7:23 AM on October 3, 2007
By the way, there's only 19 coupons on that sheet, and cortex won't redeem fractional cents. So if you want your cash, you need to send in 20 sheets (cash value 19 cents).

That gets the biggest weighting, but the bulk of the data comes from temporal information - who talks near in time to whom.

BrotherCaine, try doing retinotopy sometime. Four hours in the scanner with absolutely no head or eye motion, watching rapidly flickering black and white checkerboards.

MeTa post: Searching on more than two tags?
mathowie, would you be willing to expose the result of a tag search as a REST service of some kind?

For instance, suppose the query
http://www.metafilter.com/tagservice/lolcats

were to return solely the text

58500,60556,60834,60848,61373,61598,61678

Then a third party such as myself could easily write a multi-tag-searcher (and the CPU burden on you would be quite minimal).
