Absolutely Not.
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.)
“Once is enough. I already have the T-shirt and I’m proud of it. I yield to my colleagues.”
If I were Lieberman, I'd have worn one of those 'Sore/Loserman' tshirts in public constantly over the last eight years. Or at least to the beach.

Bush sacrifices
If I learned nothing else today, I learned that Bush's handlers don't trust him to not leak sensitive material in emails he forwards to his 'buddies'. Classic.

Tell that to Lowe's, who just built a big new store in my city, and every single sign is translated into Spanish. Sheesh.
The nerve of them. Speak American or get out of my hardware store.

I find your admission to never wiping yourself with toilet paper after having a bowel movement to be very brave, and I'd like to make a documentary with you as my subject.

The White Crap Talks Back
As the author of the (previously) post, I'll be buying Smith's autobio the first chance I get, crap piece or not, much like I buy every album this group puts out. Favorite band of the punk/post-punk/modern era, hands down, and one of my favorite personalities in the history of music.

I want my P-tv
I'm not a big fan of the writing or the music discussed on Pitchfork, but I check it out from time to time and occasionally find interesting stuff I would've otherwise missed. It's a decent resource - not great, not terrible - though I do think the writing on the site has gone downhill over the last few years.
I've grown so fucking tired of people bitching about hipsters. Get over yourselves. What does hipster even mean to those who constantly denounce them? Someone... [more]

ludwig_van: Maybe it's just something I didn't notice in the past, but it seems they've turned up the snark in the last few years. I do think their interviews have gotten stronger, though.

A Moveable Feast
A friend of mine who was in the army tells me that he used vodka-as-bong-water a couple of times, and that it was excellent.
If it was excellent, why'd he only do it a couple of times?

The Legend Will Live On
Bill Hicks said it best:
By the way, if anyone here is in marketing or advertising...kill yourself. Thank you. Just planting seeds, planting seeds is all I'm doing. No joke here, really. Seriously, kill yourself, you have no rationalization for what you do, you are Satan's little helpers. Kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself now. Now, back to the show. Seriously, I know the marketing people: 'There's gonna be a joke comin' up.' There's no fuckin' joke. Suck a tail... [more]

ps - can we autobahn anyone who drags that Bill Hicks rant into any ad-thread now? Or do we have to watch it being trotted out in every ad-thread for a few more years here first?
Yeah, I totally deserve to be banned for that. You are so right.

A clownsuit engine is an engine that dresses up as a clown, entices little boys to sit on its lap, then does an advanced Google search within specific parameters. In this case, it searches for files on one click hosts that contain the keywords the clown and the little boy type into the search box.

1,000 Albums to Hear Before You Die
There is no reason whatsoever why I need to hear a System of the Down album before I die. None. The Guardian reaches a level of critical failure that was unknown up until this point in history.

Eno was also in 801 and Roxy Music, and he produced and performed on the Talking Heads’ Fear of Music, and he collaborated with Bowie on Low, so he’s featured on at least 6 albums.
The excellent Cluster & Eno collaboration's on there as well. Here, download it. Don't say I never did anything for you.

Jared from Subway? WE GET IT ALREADY. STFU!
Mayor Curley, I honestly don't give a flying one what Jared chooses to do with his life. I was responding to blanket statements like "you can't say that you'd turn down the money" and what shakespeherian said. Maybe you didn't realize that. Sorry I had to point it out for you.

shakespeherian, you asked what reason would someone have for turning down a gig where they get to do whatever they want with 98% of their time, and shoot the occasional :30 spot for Subway for their income. I do think there's a reason: there are plenty of people out there that wouldn't be comfortable shilling for a fast-foot company. Not wanting to be a corporate tool enters in very nicely. I never said the guy's rejected his principles, not was i responding to that portion of your statement.... [more]

I think that everyone has at least one product that they honestly like, and that they would gladly endorse for shitloads of money because they actually like the product. Jared likes Subway, so he takes their money. What a terrible, terrible thing that is. I wonder how he sleeps at night.

Enroute, I've turned down commercial work more than once. I would've received more money for a few days work than I probably would've made in the 6 months after that, but I turned it down because I, as was beautifully pointed out by Bonzai above, have mad integrity. Or something like that.
In any case, I am sorry if I misinterpreted your use of the "in Jared's shoes" qualifier.
