Apparently, you can now download music on the internet.

Shareminer is a clownsuit engine that searches for files upped to Rapidshare, Megaupload, SendSpace, ZShare, and other similar one click hosts. A great tool for locating full, rare, and out of print albums.

Soft Focus: Interviews with some damn fine and/or interesting musicians

For the last year, the Vice TV program Soft Focus has presented an assortment of "discussions about art, culture, politics, personal history, personal feelings, fashion, and the like" with a series of noteworthy musicians. Smith, My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields, The Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder, Crass' Penny Rimbaud, Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV's Genesis P. Orridge, Cat Power's Chan Marshall, Thee Headcoats' Billy Childish, The Specials' Terry Hall, Andrew WK, Fugazi's Ian Mackaye, and Palace/Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's Will Oldham.

"She gave me two choices, and five days to decide. Either Britta would leave Luna or I would pack my things and move out."

Dean Wareham (of the bands Galaxie 500 and Luna) writes openly about his affair with Luna's bassist, Britta Phillips (best know in some circles as Jem from Jem and the Holograms).

The unreleased 1998 documentary "Frat House"

In 1997, Todd Phillips and Andrew Gurland created a film documenting the savagely brutal hazing rituals that take place during Hell Week at U.S. college fraternities. Frat House was completed and won the Grand Jury Prize for documentaries at 1998's Sundance Film Festival, an award that was later rescinded. HBO was slated to air it later that year, but pulled it for reasons that remain debatable to this day. It has never seen an official release.

Pretty much devolved by this point.

It's 1984. Let's spend 32 curious minutes with Devo as they convince us to purchase a Pioneer Laserdisc system.

Leonard Cohen - I'm Your Man

"Since bursting onto the scene in 1967, Leonard Cohen has inspired generations with his unique personality and haunting music, becoming one of the most original and enduring artists to emerge from the 1960's. In January, 2005, Lian Lunson traveled to Sydney to film the historic "Came So Far For Beauty" show, a tribute to Cohen at the Sydney Opera House organized by famed music producer Hal Willner. And in a series of candid interviews, Cohen himself reveals his trademark wry humor and soulful intensity, using his own artwork, poetry, and personal collection of photographs to reflect upon his colorful past and his creative process."

Slumber party in a snaunted snous.

Kevin Blechdom is a girl. Along with Blevin Blectum, she was once 1/2 of the duo Blectum from Blechdom (R.I.P.). Kevin is now a solo artist (as is Blevin) living in Germany. Her website is chock full of fun and embarrassing things, such as dirty comics, her homemade patches for MAX/MSP (an amazing virtual synth program), the Blectionary (in case you need help deciphering her world), and four songs from the hit Broadway and theatrical musical 'Annie' as performed by a (hopefully) preteen Kevin. Complete table of contents here. (note: some links may be NSFW. Please be careful.)

You'll understand when you go on down to Tacoland...

Ram Ayala - owner of the famed Tacoland nightclub in beautiful downtown San Antonio, Texas - was shot and killed during a robbery at his bar last Thursday. The world-famous club has been a favorite dive for bands and locals alike since 1969, forever immortalized in the Dead Milkmen song "Tacoland". R.I.P.

This is how you sip some drank...you go to ya hookup, pick up half a pint, pour it in a 2 liter bottle of some damn sunkist orange, get a white styrofoam cup, put some ice in it, pop in a crunk screw tape like '10' deep or another platinum hit, roll up a blunt, smoke it and sip some drank while jammin to screw. DJ Screw really would be proud.

to here knows when

Kevin Sheilds' first interview in 12 years. Or something like that. Anyway, he still has to prove his 21st century relevance to a whole lot of people before we/they'll believe in the man.

snap, crack-le, pop

The Girl Who Played Dead "Her name, like most of her life, is forgotten, but her one defining moment is carved into memory: She is the girl who played dead. That moment came in a South Dallas crack house, where she'd been hanging out with four other teen-agers 'in the game,' dabbling in the margins of the drug trade. Her survival was the closest thing to a miracle at a time when it seemed like we were witnessing a final surge into apocalyptic violence on the streets of Dallas."

cute, cuter, umm...

The strange cat-world of Louis Wain. Wain's cat drawings, once cute, took an interesting turn later in life.
