Fixed Income / Equity Research Associate

We are an institutional broker-dealer which trades high yield and distressed debt of U.S. and international issuers, convertible securities, and special situations equities. We are seeking applicants for associate in our securities research department for a late-November/December interview/screening process and a late January/early February 2008 start. This position is a great place to begin, or reposition, a Wall Street career, with the potential for direct promotion to senior analyst or lateral moves into sales and trading. We support progress towards the CFA Charter and other professional development and securities industry registrations, as well. We are interested in recent finance or accounting BA/BS graduates as well as holders of other degrees with solid analytical skills and 1-2 years of meaningful post-BA work experience. Applications must include a cover letter in the body of the e-mail, a one-page resume in Word format (.doc), and a two-to-five page writing sample (on any subject; college papers acceptable).

Vice President, Structured Products Trading (Experienced Attorney)

An experienced structured products attorney is sought to transition to a trading/desk analyst role. We are a fixed-income-focused global institutional broker-dealer working to expand our capabilities in secondary trading of structured products (MBS, CDOs, ABCP, etc.) This is an exceptional opportunity to move to the business side of Wall Street while continuing to leverage expertise and relationships accumulated in legal practice. Compensation for the first year in this position will be comparable to law firm compensation; pay thereafter will be fully performance-based, with the potential significantly to exceed law firm compensation.

LatAm / Emerging Markets Associate Analyst

We are a successful boutique brokerage, focused exclusively on trading equities, convertibles, emerging markets securities, and high yield bonds with hedge funds and other institutional investors. We are seeking to add an associate to our Emerging Markets research function, which focuses principally (although not exclusively) upon Latin American corporate bonds. For this position, we have the following specific requirements: (1) Spanish fluency and native/near-native fluency in English, (2) one or more (1+) years of experience in Latin American corporate credit, (3) bachelor's degree; additional credentials welcome. This position has an initial "target" (but not guaranteed) total compensation range of $65,000 to $85,000, including a bonus and a base salary of $45,000 to $60,000 depending upon experience. Our associates, if successful, have the opportunity to progress rapidly in responsibilty, rank and compensation, including promotion to senior analyst roles and lateral moves to institutional sales and trading. This is a refinement of a broader associate-/senior-associate level recruiting launched with an earlier round of ads (on Craigslist and elsewhere); there is no need to reapply if you applied initially. Interested applicants should submit a resume and writing samples in both English and Spanish.

Research Editing/Layout/Admin

We are a boutique securities brokerage. We (electronically) publish securities research product on a daily basis, and require a multi-talented staffer who can copy-edit and format raw analyst product (Word text and Excel figures) into finished product, as well help us handle a high volume of changes to our distribution/customer lists. We currently generate our published PDFs from a variety of Word templates but are open to moving to a more sophisticated desktop publishing platform if the right person comes in to champion the transition. We would like someone with relevant experience, a cheerful and flexible attitude, and an authentic interest in the world of finance. This is a mission critical position and requires someone with no problem with consistent attendance and an early start time (7:30 AM in midtown Manhattan). There is definite opportunity for advancement into a junior professional research role for someone who succeeds in the specified responsibilities for a considerable period of time, but we'd be equally happy with someone with a permanent interest in this particular set of duties.

Verity / Access / Web admin

A mid-size financial services firm is seeking an experienced professional who can (1) maintain and improve our high-volume, mission-critical Verity document systems, (2) maintain and improve our proprietary MS Access-based data systems, (3) take on projects selectively integrating or cross-updating our Verity and MS Access systems, and (4) maintain and improve our promotional website. The core functions of this position must be performed independently and in satisfaction of the needs of non-technical staff in other departments of the Firm. As such, a high degree of experience with the technology in question, a high degree of personal reliability and integrity, and strong business communication skills are all critical. Given the independent and professional character of the support required, we will consider filling this need on a contracting basis, but would require that we be the contractor's principal client and that the contractor be based in or near New York City and be regularly available via onsite or remote connection. We will also consider filling this position on a full-time employee basis; if employed, we will also ask the person hired to use downtime to share in the support of other applications and systems with our broader IT department. Please submit resumes and compensation requirements to the below e-mail address. Your application package MUST include clear and specific statements of the degree and source of experience with the referenced applications and with the approrpiate underlying systems.
