Do you have a mechanic to recommend near Arlington, MA? My beloved old Volvo has a bunch of little issues that need addressing. I'm in Arlington Heights, but I will go a bit out of my way if anyone has someone reliable, reasonable and fairly timely to recommend.

Where can I purchase baby clothing featuring Miffy (Nijntje)? I am near Boston, Massachusetts in the United States of America, and have access to the Internet. I will also probably travel to Montreal before I need the clothing, in case there is a shop there that will best satisfy my Miffy needs

Can anyone familiar with Taiwanese culture or Mandarin tell me if the Yankees' PR people changed the pronunciation of Chien Ming Wang's surname to "Wong" to prevent penis jokes? Or is it really some fluke of transliteration?

I have heard several reference to a Soviet propaganda poster that I can't find. Maybe it's a hoax, perhaps you've seen it. You might even know where I can view it.

Does anyone know where I can find a rather big photo of Josef Stalin online? I'm making an iron-on transfer that will go on a babie's onesie, so it needs to print out at least 4 inches (10cm) wide at 300 dpi. Google image search ain't cuttin' it, but it must be out there.

I have lived here for almost all of my adult life and don't know this-- What is the best package store in the Boston area for beer? I want something like Beers of the World outside Rochester, NY and I can't find it: beers from all over the world, and regional beers from the US. I know of some decent places, but nothing that makes me feel like I have just entered Mecca. Lets try to keep it in the 495 Loop, but I will drive further than that if the place sounds really fantastic. Baseball season is here and summer is coming so I am looking forward to some nice beer.

Can someone confirm that there's a pedestrian in the game "Grand Theft Auto 3" with a welsh accent who says something to the effect of "Hey! Where are you going?" (emphasis on the "you".) An acquaintance is accusing me of fabricating the story and I don't have a copy of the game handy. I'm know I heard it on the middle island.

I ripped a DVD with Mac The Ripper. I have a collection of IFO and VOB files on my hard drive. I want to get a movie file that I can then import into iMovie to cut up. What program do I need and what file type should I shoot for?

Work is paying for a Flash Actionscript class. What are the best ones available in or around Boston, Massachusetts USA? I am Straight Outta Newton and work in Allston, so I would like something in those areas, but I am willing to go anywhere in Metro Boston/city if the course is very good.

Metafilter needs an
NHL 94 tournament. I'll keep the records unless someone else better at clerical stuff wants to. Who wants in? (I get to be the Bruins. Cam Neely will bang in your face.)

This is a fine example of a decent question and good responses made much less satisfying because they are interspersed with responses from assholes who are just posting to see their names.

How do rest stops along US highways become liason places for homosexuals? I remember a rest stop near my hometown being notorious when I was a child before anyone could somehow blame the Internet.

"You must have shot an awful lot of Legos sir."
The Italian Job trailer, done in Legos. It's amateurish and it's YouTube, but it's only 50 seconds and it's really charming if you're a fan of the movie. There's a serialized version of the whole movie (
part 1 and
part 2). Part 2 is much better because it has the heist and the aftermath. Lorna, Big William and Camp Freddie are miscast, but otherwise it's pretty good.

I have an iRiver h110. Some of my mp3s files behave normally in winamp and Windows Media 10, but are seemingly rejected by the H110 when I try to add them (error message from WMP is something like "may be wrong file type" but they're mp3s, which are supported). I thought that maybe it was corrupt tags and I tried rewriting them, but to no avail.

I just put together a pc from new parts. It won't post-- fans turn on, but that's it. No video signal, no power light, no beeps, cd trays won't open. Power supply is 400w and tested in another machine. What should my next steps be?

Hobby religion considers major change.
The Church of England is considering a motion to dump its patron saint,
St. George, noted for slaying dragons and being a fictional character. You see, he might be offensive to muslims. Next up, "Should 'Jerusalem' be abandoned for 'Peace Train'?"

I have been reading Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series, and I like it a lot. Now I want to play video games set in the era (or thereabouts). Are there any good ones that simulate the Napoleonic Wars or other European and Colonial wars of the general period? Or that have better sailing ship naval battles than the new Pirates!? I liked that a lot at first, but it's too simple and repetitive for me. I have modern computers running windows, OSX, and Linux and a PS2.
