Sarah Palin may be a better debater than you think
She is pulling record crowds at her appearances.
Actually, last I'd heard the numbers out of the McCain camp on this were outright fabrications, with local police giving much smaller numbers than they were.
On the other hand, if she comes to Minneapolis, I'd go. I'd like to see her say that crazy bullshit in person.

Miko, they should add you to the staff as political advisor, or something. Everything that you contribute to these Palin threads is fantastically well thought out and written. Thanks.

Jeez, what the hell was up with that debate question? Nothing quite like startin' a debate off with rape and murder!
I don't agree with Rich about her not being a sulker. Her response to the Couric interview has been pure sulk, and that "Do we have to?" response to pulling out of Michigan reminds me of a whiny teen forced to clean her room.

Sarah Palin's Poujadist Agenda
If your mother were running for vice president on the basis of those qualifications, I would consider her stupid as well.
In fact, I'd wager that if someone asked your mother to be VP, she'd say no, because she KNOWS what she is qualified for. Palin does not.

A better option for tracking post activity?
Just use Plutor's script (which is awesome, by the way) or bookmark it. Once the Palin megathreads dip off the front page, I bookmark the last comment read and check it every day or so, updating the bokmark.
Cumbersome, maybe, but it works better than a "NOTE TO SELF READ HERE" comment, which is just noise.

We really need a new Palin/election thread, but I'm afraid this isn't it.
No. We don't. At least not until something actually happens.

She was obviously asked about why she cheated on her husband, and the gesture was her retort. Sorry Todd. Cold in Alaska, I guess.

The problem is, if I want a copy of a mainstream DVD I own to take with me on my laptop, it's just as easy for me to torrent it as it is to try and rip/make a copy of my DVD.

That wasn't thread shitting. That was pure unadulterated snark, which is what happens to mediocre posts on Metafilter.
I think the post was saved by the Mefi Taxicab Confessions in the comments, but that goes against the whole "it's the links, not the discussion" thing.

Having an area for trip reports would be great, as a lot of the location-specific asks don't always receive post-trip feedback. Plus everyone trusts a Mefi member's opinion.

And as Andrew Sullivan has pointed out, the guy she supposedly had the affair with recently filed to have his divorce records sealed - more than a year after the actual divorce... so, even if there is nothing there, there is the appearance that something is being hidden.
That was a different dude (or, second dude, if you will). He just wanted his privacy maintained...and failed to get it.

Watching Governor Palin stumble through that interview was painful. Couric's entire face was a mask of distaste and the tone in which she spoke to Palin was just a hair less patronizing than the one you'd use to explain to a three-year-old why they can't go down the bathtub drain. Palin looked panicky and sweaty and completely, totally unprepared.
Yeah, I dunno about this. Katie Couric seemed to show obvious disdain during the interview. She's... [more]

The Palin parody at the beginning was better, but nowhere near as funny as the actual footage it was based on.
I agree. I thought the Palin parody was pretty funny, mainly because about half of the lines she used were quotes from the interview. But I'm pretty sure they could have gotten the same amount of laughs just using the original interview, flashing "SHE ACTUALLY SAID THIS" on the bottom of the screen.

As far as Slacker Uprising goes....it sucks. It's a tribute video to Moore's get out the vote campaign in 2004, and how great it worked.
But it's fantastically boring, and he's preaching to the fucking choir, so... I'm really not sure what he hopes to accomplish here. At least Sicko had a message to get across.

Hey smartasses, you know the thing about singing for the choir? Generally the choir wins.
I expected some sort of anger or reaction to the results in Ohio in 2004. Instead we get "We won 60/62 cities my tour visited!"
I guess the choir here is himself.

Yeah, I fucked that up pretty badly. I'm a member of the choir, a liberal who voted in 2004, but I didn't learn anything from Slacker Uprising. Voter registration works, except...it didn't?

Someone needs to tell Hollywood that we don't fucking need origin stories any more. Everyone knows who Superman is. Everyone knows who most of these characters are.
Now that they've actually established a Batman/Spiderman, they have to do it for fucking villains! I don't need to know how every villain came to be. For those of us who haven't seen a Superman comic since the 80's, what's Superman DNR?
I might be wrong, but I think DNR, rather, DKR, is in reference to Dark Knight Returns, which gave us the old badass of a Batman.

I think its amusing that a game based on intelligent design creationism is advertised as "evolution."
That drives me nuts. There's nothing at all like evolution happening in Spore. Every time I go into the creature creature, I can completely redesign my creature from the ground up.

The problem with the Malkin link is that it's on fucking Michelle Malkin's website, and therefore automatically a bit untrustworthy. Sure, that sounds like how it could have gone down, that the hacker was a democrat looking for evidence of wrongdoing, but I don't think we have any proof he was.
If Biden was being investigated for using a freakin' Yahoo account to conduct actual government business and it got hacked there would be a Mefi post about it. No question.
