Motown in Teheran
Haha! What an uncanny coincidence! "Googoosh" is the noise I make during my morning bowel movement.

It's true. In fact, I own the mining rights to the land my employer's office sits on. One of these days, BAM!

How much did the U.S. pay (per acre) in the Louisiana Purchase? Because you Canadians might want to make sure the U.S. isn't buying up your country at 17 cents/acre.
It should be noted, of course, that the laws and regulations discussed in the article(s) only apply to the province of B.C., but you've got a valid point, nonetheless.
Tomorrow's payday, so I'm going to go out and buy me the mining rights for half of Vancouver Island.

Hilton Ruiz is dead.
A terrible loss. I recall (somewhat serendipitously) finding "El Camino" tucked away in my parents' record collection when I was still a kid and just listening to it with sheer delight and fascination.

It just SUCKS.
I'm sorry, were we watching the same clip? Did you somehow miss the EXPLODING BATHTUBS?!
Seriously, would you have preferred that they discuss the state of the Pacific Rim economy with shaky cameras and angles and dramatic music with exploding bathtubs? Maybe then you would have been happy with the post. Elitist!

Won't you be my neighbor?
The sad truth about me is that I was jaded and overly-intellectual as a kid, and am becoming more naive and open as I age.
I'm totally with you there. I'd like to think that it's something that will continue as I get older.
Also, my maturity seems to be regressing as well -- I envision myself wandering around an old folks' home, pantsing the other residents and running away, giggling.
Thanks for this, Sticherbeast.

During a trip to TO in February, I happened to catch a glimpse of Zanta doing pushups while I was taking a stroll along Front Street. He was shirtless, as usual, despite it being -29 C out that day.

Perhaps it's me who's reinforcing the stereotype. I get regular cravings for poutine at least once a month. It's like clockwork. Almost like some sort of Canadian male menopause or something.

I agree with philcliff -- it's more entertaining watching him bump into the wall and hold his nose in pain than smashing through them.

Everything I Know About Canada, I Learned During The Commercials...
These all bring back wonderful memories of my childhood, when my mother who works at the Vancouver Public Library would bring home VHS tapes of these shorts, all compiled together -- as a kid, I preferred watching these NFB cartoons far more than anything on TV on Saturday mornings.
Occasionally, I still stay up late some nights with my TV tuned to CBC-TV just to catch that NFB animated short with the national anthem -- they continue air it at the end (and possibly... [more]

I've often thought that the NFB should have their own TV station, or at least some dedicated airtime on the CBC to increase exposure. Just last year, NFB films were winning Oscars -- these were Canadian films, telling Canadian stories, but I'm willing to wager that there are many, many Canadians who haven't seen them, even though the Canadian public are the owners of the NFB.

I've got the long-sleeved version of that shirt -- in fact, I'm wearing it right now. One of the most comfortable t-shirts I've ever owned.
