Old West photo in the SF Bay Area?

Where could we get a kitschy, Old-West-themed group shot taken in the Bay Area next week?

Standards-based Web designer

Hi. We're White Whale, a small start-to-finish design-and-build firm in Oakland that develops standards-based Web sites and data applications. We are looking for an unconventional, intelligent, creative designer with a solid understanding of CSS, Web standards and valid (X)HTML. Because we're very small, we all wear a lot of hats; at any given time you may be working on branding guidelines, doing site buildouts, talking with clients, or working on our own site. So we need someone versatile, but creative thinking about Web design is at the top of our wish list. The position will begin as a part-time position, at a competitive salary, but could become full-time quickly. We offer full health and dental benefits and pay 100% of all premiums. More: http://whitewhale.net/content/nowhiring.php To apply: Visit our website and see if you think we'd be a good fit. Then email jobs@whitewhale.net and tell us what we need to know about you.

What dSLR would you buy?

What digital SLR would you buy? What if you had, say, three Nikon lenses and a Nikon flash?

Or maybe it's just the voter's fault

Blackbox Voting, take 6. While lawsuits elsewhere seek to require paper trails or block e-voting altogether, early voting in some states is already using the controversial machines. Take New Mexico, for example: "I voted for Kerry and a check mark for Bush appeared." It's not that funny anymore — especially when most of the fears aren't about what you do see, but what you don't.

Red card, GOP TV spots

George W. Bush's latest TV ads juxtapose Iraq's and Afghanistan's flags with footage of Olympic sport, proclaiming, "At this Olympics, there will be two more free nations — and two fewer terrorist regimes." At a campaign stop, Bush said, "just the image of the Iraqi soccer team playing in this Olympics. It's fantastic, isn't it? What a fantastic thought." The possibly medal-bound Iraqi soccer team, however, objects to any such association. While Bush goes on to say, "Here's a country now, battling for a country that is now free. It wouldn't have been free if the United States had not acted," Ahmed Manajid, midfield goes so far as to say, "if he were not playing soccer he would 'for sure' be fighting as part of the resistance."

Red Flag Over the Reichstag

Some very moving Soviet war photography, notably several shots of the famously doctored (not to mention staged) but nonetheless dramatic hoisting of the Red Flag over a burned out Reichstag (a scene which, by the way, recently appeared in a videogame).
