I know I don't mind reposting of prominant stories, because such things don't exist. Prominent stories, on the other hand...I don't mind either. I wouldn't have seen a feature story from the NYT because I don't read it, though I do follow American news. I read feature stories in my dead tree copy of the Globe and Mail, or in magazines, or, when people post them to Metafilter.

I'd be shocked if this was a self-link; I've met Russell McOrmand before, and he's much, much more web-savvy than this puckersmc-too long name seems to be. At the very least, the actual blog entry by Russell is likely not related to the username here; perhaps the poster is affiliated with digital-copyright.ca generally, I don't know. I used to live there, but we never had a meetup. I'm sure there are a few other Haligonian MeFites but I can't find a thread on it like I thought there was. If you're willing to jump 'filters, MonkeyFilter has a rather sizable Maritime population for such a small userbase, but again, can't find the post. No google-fu for me tonight.

It was great - she did a really good job, was leading for most of it. And she said "let's make it a true daily double, Alex!" which earns her my eternal respect and awe.

It was the weirdest ending we've ever seen on Jeopardy, the winner only got $1200! Great show though, very fun to watch.

Mine, and oddly enough, even though I rarely use it, I was at a lecture at school the other day, where Michael Geist was giving a talk on "what's happening online" (groan) and he demonstrated flickr by going to a screenshot of the Ottawa tag - and there were my photos from the February MeFi/MoFi meetup. I can't understand why someone wouldn't understand that comment. I mean, it was a bit long and could have probably withstood some pruning, but his point was clear, and I thought quite nicely written.

If that's gobbledygook, well, I'm amazed. Still, not really a big deal. Just thought I'd let hank_14 know that it's not as bad a comment as people are making it out to be. I might not agree with everything you said in it, but it was certainly plainly understandable. Cheers.

I do have to say something now that I was alerted to the fact that the photos are randomly chosen out of 29. For example, what Arch Stanton says above may be true of some of the photos, but as was pointed out earlier, #6 pretty much shows nipple, and some of the others have girls in lingerie, or quite nude.

Many of these photos are really, really close to the line of having nudity (and I don't think nudity is required for something to be sexual, anyway). I think... [more]

I'm not saying that he didn't say stupid things. In particular, the aggressive/potentially violent comment was really bad, joking or not. The thing is, if you had just let well enough alone for once, none of that would have come up. I'm with shawnj - anyone who thinks MoFi is all about whining about MeFi hasn't been actually looking at the site at all. And I'd like to know who the "3 best members from April" are. I think most MoFites these days would argue with your choices, given the good ones we still have there (and the fact that *lots* of us joined in April!)

I like LJ because it's so easy to keep up with people via friends' lists. And I don't really take it seriously enough to have an actual blog; I just write about this and that and comment in my friends' journals. And avoid quizzes like the plague, don't worry. :)
