I'm going to Thailand for two and a half months on a grant to study engaged Buddhism and its intersections with international development projects. Any suggestions? (more inside)

I have a grammar question and google is yielding answers for both results (which makes me think that it's a common mistake): Is it "borne of" or "borne from" as in "laws are borne of/from ideals?"

Housingfilter: My girlfriend and I are going to be "stuck" in London for two weeks (waiting for a flight layover). Does anyone have any cheap suggestions OR interest in a housing swap (we live in Copenhagen)? (MI)

The Copenhagen Consensus
is Bjørn Lomborg’s latest agenda-setting
enterprise. Eight top economists (of which three are Nobel laureates) were
asked to rank 32 of the world’s
challenges
using cost-benefit analysis and estimation of importance. The resulting ranking
suggested that the HIV/AIDS epidemic be prioritized first.
As always with Mr. Lomborg (previously discussed
here,
here and
here), the whole enterprise was
surrounded by controversy, and triggered a counter conference,
The
Copenhagen Conscience, and earned him the privilege of getting likened to
Hitler by a high-ranking
UN official

More clash from the right.
Political Scientist Samuel Huntington has gone domestic with his “Clash of Civilizations” (previous MeFi links
here and
here). In his new article, “The Hispanic Challenge” (soon to be a book entitled “Who Are We”), he highlights the
threat hispanics pose to what he has decided is "the Anglo-Protestant culture of America."
