Delayed cold sensitivity in teeth? Anyone know what this is? It's not quite a brain-freeze, not actually cold-sensitivity, it's exactly this: 45 minutes to an hour after I eat something frozen, I get a sharp ache deep inside in my upper gums/skull (about where the canine eminence lies).

Q for the webserver admin folks out there. I have a few web pages which are dead (old, retired, moved, etc). As a courtesy to some folks who were still linking to them (some dynamically generated javascript) I just left the files in place, but made them into tiny text files, preventing 404s and hanging pages.
The question: which is better for the server (cheaper, less intensive) in this case? Serve up a tiny (or blank) text file - or - just delete the files and return 404s to all requests?

Quickie Gecko-CSS question - not finding useful help on Google. How to align the text (value) of a form button?
This looks great in IE (aligned right), but always reverts to center in Moz/Firefox. Anyone find any clever workarounds (I really don't wanna resort to images)

Hopefully a simple question, but I can't think of a googly-good way to ask. Is there a way in Photoshop to open multiple images as layers in a single PSD? For instance, can I select 10 .jpg images and somehow magically make them into a stack of layers in one .psd file I'm working on? Right now, I'm doing this by hand (open file, select all, copy, paste into .psd, wish for a better way).

Skunkfilter - any experiences in keeping skunks away? Our lovely new home seems to have some tasty bugs in the lawn, and skunks dig 'em up at night. Sometimes the neighbor dogs scare them, and they spray (ever been awoken in the middle of the night by a noxious odor)? I've seen suggestions online for Fox urine, hot pepper, mothballs, etc. Anyone know one that works reliably?

Anyone know of a place or company that makes decent, cool, or interesting personal checks? I hate the bank's default blue ones, and all of the customized checks I can find are banal Puppies or Americana or Nature Scenes or worse (
The Rock or
Rob Zombie?) . Why can't I find any checks that look good (or even off-the-wall in a good way)?

Anyone know of a good, reliable (free) RSS feed for Weblog Keyword Search?
Technorati seemed like the most likely candidate, but they don't currently export keyword searches to RSS. I've found a couple others that do, including
Feedster (a bit slow) and I thought that
Blogines might do this, but they say they don't currently export keyword searches.
What I'm looking for is something as groovy and reliable as Yahoo News Search RSS (example keyword
Metafilter) - but searching Weblogs, not the news. Any/all suggestions welcome - I'd rather not resort to page-scraping.

Making the most of politcal contributions - how? If one wishes to contibute something financially to help in this years presidential race, where would that money be best sent? Directly to the campaign? To a PAC or other group? To a Party Headquarters? What about limits, personal fund-raisers? There are a lot of vague-sounding rules and unknowns out there, wondering if anyone else on here has negotiated them.

Big changes coming for me and my family - a big move is involved (from Seattle to Boston). Seeking advice from those who have tried online sites to locate apartments/rental houses in faraway locations. Any sites stand out over others? I plan to gather as many potential listings as I can online, since I'll only have one week to actually look in person. I'm trying the obvious ones first (rent.com, boston.com want ads, etc.)
