Stay Classy, Ingrid.
I have as much disrespect for my fellow human as the next guy, but this may be going a little too far.

I don't get it, are you trying to say Mormons shouldn't be mocked? Seriously?

Can we go back to 55 again?
Please stay in the right lane when you are driving slower than the speed of traffic.
I could see 55 in Seattle and Portland, but good luck with that in LA or around NYC.

And while you are driving 55, drop your golf and get one of these. Less mass and less wind resistance will also improve your efficiency.

Has anyone else noticed the slow but steady tarting up of the WSJ since the Murdoch buyout?
The editorial page has always been a mixed bag at the WSJ

core gamers having a perfectly natural reaction to Nintendo's offerings at a core gaming event
E3 is an industry event not a gamer event. It is about the industry, for the industry. Much of the industry may also be hardcore gamers, but Nintendo has shown that there is plenty of money to be made catering to casual gamer.
If I was running a game studio, I'd be very interested to learn what nintendo is up to.

Bigger and Russianer
It really is 1998 all over again. But if my job is paying me five times what I should really be making, I'm going to be pissed.

US Eastern Seaboard the spillway for a "slow wave" of melting Greenland glaciar water
"What the heck?" you might say. That was my reaction too. But the other poster pointed to a study showing that when the icecaps melt, we get a lot more volcanoes, presumably because the pressure that the ice exerts on the ground changes so much. The ground starts shifting, and we see volcanoes. Lots of them. The ash from the volcanoes, in prior epochs, then triggered small to medium ice ages.
We can be really sure we're changing the climate, but... [more]

Second Life fails in a lot of different ways. Lively fails in even more.
On the plus side, Steve Balmer can sue the fsck out of google now on the basis of this domain name, and claim to have accomplished something in 2008.

Class Worrier
Seems pretty wild that such a tiny minority of people should take such a large part of the economy.
It seems pretty wild that Microsoft's market cap is bigger than the combined market cap of the top five or so defense companies. Maybe they are creating an enormous amount of value?

Don't forget that Mr. Gates is actively trying to stamp out disease in the third world. That can't be good for his carbon footprint. (all those extra mouthes to feed)

Spoiler Alert.
it was discovered that the toxin was not plant-borne at all, but actually was a coordinated, conspiratorial "terrorist" attack, perpetrated by radical environmentalists. Don't ask me about the mechanics; just saying that would have been more interesting in my opinion. Of course such a politically incorrect take would never see the light of day.
Oh, so it is twelve monkeys, but directed by a moron?

In Paul's case, that would be more like tens of billions. He might be able to pick up a shiny new B-2 bomber with cash.

...and the need to create a planetary society with the united will to protect this “pale blue dot” becomes both obvious and imperative.
Who knew that Genghis Khan, Napoleon and Hitler were all space travelers? When things get imperative, we always seem to end up breaking a few eggs.

GPSes can handle onramps and offramps. They also measure altitude, so the Izu viaduct shouldn't be too much trouble.
