After a last-straw rate hike I cancelled my Comcast cable and switched to DSL. As part of a package of severance bills Comcast is trying to charge me for cable modems that I purchased through 3rd parties. Apart from calling billing and yelling for hours on end, what's my recourse here?

I've been offered a home-based support position with a certain fruit-centric tech company we all know. Some aspects of working from home are appealing, but I'm concerned about potential limitations for advancement, as my goal is to remain at said company and move up the ladder. Should I hold out for an office-based position or jump at the chance to work for them now?

Please recommend me a psychiatrist and therapist in the Dallas area who 'specialize' in anxiety/dysthymic disorders. I don't have severe anxiety to the point where I'm a hermit or anything. I like to think of my self as a very functional social phobic. But the anxiety is still there enough to rear its ugly head. For example, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to connect with people as I get older. I've lived in Texas my entire life and all my best friends moved away after college. I haven't been able to develop friendships that are as strong as the ones I had in high school and college.

Can I marry my Sister in Law? I have a question about second marriages that I would like to get some opinions on. I have been a widower now for 14 months. I am 61. My wife’s sister (my sister in law) has been a widow now for 4 years. She is 58. She and her husband and my wife and I were always very close. She has been an incredible friend this last year and helped me through my grieving process. We have been spending a moderate amount of time together. We get along famously and have similar interests. I have become very fond of her. Is it inappropriate for me to ask her about possible dating with a long term relationship and even marriage on my mind? Or is it appropriate? Oh by the way, neither of us has dated at all.

I am very embarrassed about this. Last September, I attended the wedding of some good friends who live far away from me. At the brunch the day after the wedding, I discussed with the bride the gift I planned to give them to make sure it was one they'd want. AskMe, I still have not ordered that gift. Can I fix this by ordering it now and enclosing a note of apology? What do I say? Or do I get in touch with the couple first to find out if they still need it or would prefer something else in case they've already gotten one for themselves?

Health insurance quagmire (NYC based)
A year and a half ago for the first time in my life I got health insurance. It wasn't an easy process, as I am a small business owner, and it was difficult to find a policy that my employment status (I was categorized as self employed for this policy) made me eligible for.
All was fine until last November, when I made a late payment. I thought I had put my payments on auto pay on my online banking, but apparently I messed up the process along the way and the payment didn't go out.

I have inherited a house in Massachusetts that has a mortgage. I am the executor and also one of the beneficiaries. The other beneficiary and I want to assume ownership of the house together. I contacted the bank that holds the mortgage and they suggested that I refinance. I'd prefer not to. I'm not sure if I have to. Do I have options? I have a lawyer and a banker but I'd like advice on how to approach this inheritance issue before I talk to them more about this.

Need some advice here.
Applied for a job, had a good interview and I have a pretty good feeling they'd like to offer me the job, but...
The job is part-time (20 hrs), no benefits.
As of today, they have another part-time position open which is also a good fit for my combo of experience and skills. I've done this job, and I could do this job again tomorrow.

I recently got a job and health insurance. Hooray. Now I can afford to see a doctor for some medical concerns I’ve had and let go for too long because I didn’t have insurance and they didn’t seem pressing. However, I can’t get in to see a doctor for at least a month or more, and for some reason, now that I do have insurance and have to wait so long to see someone, I’m suddenly having tremendous anxiety about my health.
