MeTa post: Fuck you for trying to be...
People seem not to be at all interested in solving the problem. Just accepting that the problem is there and sucking it up isn't much of an answer, however many times the advice is repeated.

AskMe is better than this. Sometimes.

Is scarabic trying to teach Matt how to be a dad? That's pretty cute.

Also "Stepmom Jess" gets a nod over here, except for the fact that my real mom would be pissed to be usurped at this stage.

Matt, come on, he's using the same key-phrases and linking to the same url three times in one page, it's google-bombing by the numbers.

I know you just want to be fair to the guys who always catch it in the neck, but here bevets is using MetaFilter to raise his search engine profile. I don't care if he was doing it to save... [more]

MeTa post: Minor problem with ordering posts in MeFi....
Switching from ordering by date to ordering by "most comments" or "my comments" leaves users unable to switch back. "date" remains selected, which prevents javascript noticing it being selected again and firing the page redraw.

The only way to get back to ordering by date is to go via ordering by "recent comments" which selects the option it should and allows you select what you really want.

Ah. I see. So you do, Gator.
You can put some of them away now.
Swan, I only see two of yours; where are the others?

Also a reason for this - in the problem ordering views, both "date" and "my/most comments" get marked as "selected" in the HTML. My browser (Opera) is choosing the last to be marked. Firefox must be choosing the first.

Only one option gets marked as "selected" in... [more]

MeTa post: I'm proposing a small change to amazon URLs here...
I think that the idea of shuffling Amazon's uncertain philanthropy into the hands of a deserving third party is an outlandishly good idea.
Also, those caught trying to game the system will give us all another vector to harrangue and disparage. Which can only strengthen the community. Of course.
