MeTa post: Are you good with words?
Here's a kind of long one I haven't got around to doing music for yet. Epic, even! But I can't see anybody'd be interested in that kind of thing.

Hm, here's another shorter one that's been lying around for awhile. I do tend to like story-telling kind of stuff.

MeTa post: Men do have babies. Ask any transgender man who has had one.
As long as every other group is also "the best," it is a-okay.
So - "the best" means equally rotten as any other group.

I'm pretty sure I remember "I'm loving it" being deleted from this thread. Mods don't like short, correct answers.

MeTa post: Ten Ten Ten Ten For Everything Everything Everything Everything.
I suggest animal sacrifices, drinking blood, and smelting our plowshares back into swords for a violent, drunken attack on Fark.
I believe the goal is to do something different for the 10th.

I am not anybody's favorite fellow MeFite but I would nonetheless be strongly in favor of everyone (else) dressing up as a wolfdog for the occasion. Any occasion, really.

There are plenty of posts I don't approve of. I show my hearty disapproval by not reading them.
If you could do the same for comments you don't like, you'd achieve total detached coolness. And yet.

MeTa post: Metafilter Projects (Re)post Ettiquete...
I was confused by the first sentence in jessamyn's comment because it makes sense and is totally plausible, yet at the same time I have never imagined that a sentence structured around "you can assume people are smart" could turn out to have both those properties. Upon reflection, I realized the key to the apparent paradox is a rather nonstandard usage of the word "smart" to refer to people who need things spelled out very very carefully for them so they don't go off... This is going to be like the site redesign contest, so no matter how you vote, what actually happens is that the old tags page will end up more or less unchanged but with some extra diagonal pinstripes on it.

You're TEARING METAFILTER APART.
I hope that 'A' will do the right thing for the site and concede gracefully as soon as possible so that we can move on and begin the healing process.

I personally think 98% of it is more MSMD than CYA, and would be very interested in hearing even so much as a rumor of an anecdote about anyone whose A was ever actually C'd by this kind of moron disclaimer on an internet forum. But you're not going to be able to stop it. (Well, the [more inside] jokes mostly got quelched; you could put a blanket disclaimer down in the foot of Ask pages and delete the kneejerk acronyms, but that'd be work...)

MeTa post: suspicious questions?
I played a gig opening for AC once in some dump somewhere in Massachusetts. I was filling in on bass in some sort of hardcore band whose songs where all more or less identical, and blessedly short, but the only important thing was you had to remember when to do the big slide on bass before the mosh part on the one song or the guitarist would get pissed, and the drummer would get badly confused for the remaining, like, 18 seconds of the song, but my god you can play a lot of... MeTa post: It's Condiments All The Way Down
I've never heard of Otter Pops before, but that won't stop me tucking "Go suck an otter pop!" away as a key element in my arsenal of rhetoric devices. Also, potentially, as an illustration of the subtle differences in meaning that can be brought about by the judicious insertion (or, conversely, deletion) of a comma.

I think you would have gotten and enthusiastic participation in response to, "Why do you like cereal for breakfast? Myself, I don't like cereal very much. But some people do. I'm wondering if there might be a cultural reason. I don't mean this to be chatfilter, I'm really curious."

And you would likely have gotten some heartwarming anecdotes about fondly-remembered cereals from childhood and everybody would get to contribute their special opinion on whether... [more]

Hm, if you're saying there's some substantial and important difference between your Journey questions then - sorry, we don't even speak the same language. No skin off my back whether the thing stays or goes, though, and I'd hardly begrudge anyone their warm-fuzzy fun. The more the merrier, yeah!
