Original Rush drummer is John Rutsey dead at 55.
Rush was one of the most successful prog rock acts of the 70s and 80s. Much of this success can be attributed to Neil Peart, whose airy, transcendent lyrics and virtuoso drumming in large part defined the band. But there was another drummer--more in the heavy style of John Bonham--who gripped the rhythmic helm on their first album: one
John Rutsey. Mr Rutsey left the band early after a diagnosis of diabetes. This month he succumbed to a heart attack, a common complication. Unfortunately, a discursive look at youtube revealed no live footage of Mr Rutsey in action.
Here is a pic from his heyday.

How can I make money from a web site besides ads? I don't really want to sell email addresses to spammers.

I browse the site at work from time to time. Thing is I don't remember if I've signed up or not. I know if I did I would have done it at work. In any case I did not sign up with my work email address, nor would I have used my real name.
The other day I get an email addressed to me by name saying I've got a someone who wants to meet me blah blah. It's kind of fsking me up because I only use the email internally, though I've sent a couple of thing to my personal email account. This is the only external email I've ever received on that account.
Can anybody tell me how they could have gotten my name and email?

I'm starting a commercial web site. I doubt it will make money for a long time, and maybe it won't make any at all, but I'd like to give it a try for the hell of it. It will be a rating site, similar to epinions and I want to store the info in a database; mysql wants $600 a year for licensing which is simply too much. Is there another suitable DBMS that would work with PHP or Perl?
If there are no free database packages out there, how might I get around the need for one?

I just got the oil changed in the car. I usually get them to put in 20-50, but this time they only had 15-45 or whatever it is. Problem is that I have about 10 quarts of the former and none of the latter in my trunk. When I top off the oil in the coming months, can I use the heavier stuff, or should I get the lighter?

My father has a problem with mold and humidity in his house. It grows copiously on the exterior walls of exactly one bedroom. Condensation appears on the windows, to the extent that there is a puddle of water on the window sill every morning; and this is a year long phenomenon. (Interestingly, the area around the windows does not get moldy. )The humidity in this room is literally palpable. We pulled up the carpet today, but it was always moist to the touch, towels don't dry, etc. The walls have to be cleaned with bleach every month or two.
There is an adjoining bathroom, and we've tried leaving the windows open but it seems to have no effect. In any case, there is another bathroom in the house which in never ventilated and there is practically no mold.
At this point we need to pinpoint the source of the humidity, and why it is only found in this room. Any ideas? If you need more info just ask.

Why has my Firefox slowed down? It started a few day ago. Sometimes it takes several minutes for a page to load. Some only partially load, then stop. Some don't load at all. Not every page is this way, but I'd say about 20% suffer from one of these problems. IE is zipping right along though. I did a virus check, ran Spy-bot and Ad-Aware and cleaned up my registry. Yet the problem persists. Oh, I'm running 1.0 and XP Pro.

Strip clubs are associated with spreading legs, not spreading the wealth.
And apparently that's the way a lot of charities in the San Francisco area want it to stay. The reason? They don't want to be associated with "those people" i.e., the skin trade. This in a city where buttless chaps are considered casual wear. [SF Gate article, about a year old, but I doubt anything has changed.]

Are cigarettes being made differently than a few months ago? Normally you light a cigarette and if you put it in the ashtray, it just burns up to the filter. I notice that about 6 months ago, the cigarette no longer does that but extinguishes itself if I don't keep puffing. Has anybody else had this experience? I smoke Marlboro Ultra Lights. No preachers, please.
