Something about The Stand "talks" to me in a way that few of King's other books have done (with the possible exception of Insomnia). Guess that's part of the nature of art - inexplicable personal attachments to books, paintings, music that transcend the most vehement criticism. F1 these days is sanitised, squeaky clean and safe. Too safe in fact. Hell yes - Goblin! They created some of the most evocative and downright spooky soundtrack music for Dario Argento. Profondo Rosso is my favorite but Suspiria is a close second. They also made an important contribution to Romero/Argento's Dawn Of The Dead (on the European version, anyway - I believe that a slightly different soundtrack was used in the US?)

While some guys stay in the cyclo trials world, most of the current world motorcycle trials competitors (including current world champ Toni Bou and ex-word champ Adam Raga) are ex-cycle trials champions.

Trials is the next big "extreme" sport to take off, I'm convinced of that. I can't believe it's still one of the least commercial professional sports on the planet.

BR is a beautiful movie and I believe that Vangelis' score is responsible for a disproportionate amount of that beauty, even when compared to other movies with "classic" soundtracks.

Coldplay don't produce music, they produce muzak. It doesn't provoke any emotional response, it's just... there. Bland, safe and a useful tool for minor-league "celebrities" when they're asked what music they're into during magazine interviews and need an utterly "safe" response but still want to appear to be "down with the kids." Assuming that the speed of light did change (which according to all current theory it can't), the physical distance between object wouldn't change but our perception of that distance might (compared to what we perceive now with our universal constant of c). But since c is fundamental to the way we see our universe and the means by which we exist, such comparisons are ultimately meaningless.
