I need to brush up on my basic college math skills for a course readiness assessment in a week. What are some good resources online and what should I focus on?

Disc golf- like it's ball-and-club cousin- challenges the player to navigate the obstacles of a pre-designed course from tee to basket, with progress being marked by the distance of your throw. It's my favorite way to enjoy the outdoors- and most courses are free to play! The sport is easy and fun to get into, yet provides an exhilarating challenge to players of all skill levels. You can play to relax, socialize, or win, depending on your style.
What is disc golf, and
where did it come from?
With over 1000 courses in the US alone, you should have no problems
finding a course in your area.
Pick out some discs, grab a few friends, and go get throwing! Here are
some tips for new players.

Many business owners have struggled with crime in their communities and the impact that can have on their business- but when the police have their hands full, sometimes your complaints just fall through the cracks. One Atlanta bar owner has taken matters into his own hands by
building a crime-fighting vigilante robot.

I have a full-sized iguana enclosure that needs to be heated more effectively. I've been researching my options and I think that using an infrared heat panel is the best way to go, but I'm not sure what size to get for my enclosure. Reptile enthusiasts needed!

Finger tapping
is a very fast guitar technique in which the picking hand is used to "tap" individual notes on the fretboard, while the fretting hand can either remain stationary or be used to do
hammer-ons/pull-offs to create even faster playing. Popularized in rock music by
Eddie van Halen (YT, great visual example) in the late 1970's, the technique has become almost essential for speed/metal guitar players. Although finger tapping has been dismissed as "wankery" by some, I think that the intense, jazzy stylings of
Stanley Jordan prove them wrong. (
here is Stanley playing two guitars!) For more tapping madness you can enjoy the furious, virtuous insanity of
Dragonforce (
full video), and be sure not to miss the speed genius of
Mr. Batio. Tapping isn't just for metal though, you can do it on a
bass or an
acoustic (amazing video).
Want to learn how?
This lesson should get you started.

In about a month I'm spending 2 weeks in Europe with my girlfriend. We'll be in Dublin, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Rome. Most of my research on these places mentions pickpocketing as being problematic (in some moreso than others)- what trademark methods should we watch out for and what are the best strategies for keeping our money safe?

Torch my ride!
Debt-heavy consumers, finding their pocketbooks unable to support their monstrous gas-guzzlers, are apparently turning to perfectly rational and legal means of debt resolution: insurance fraud. Meanwhile, across the pond, people are are still immolating cars for the more
traditional reason: destroying the evidence. Should you find yourself in either situation any time soon Slate has a handy
guide for you. If you have no such plans however, you may still want to read
this in case your car ignites legitimately. And have a damn good story ready.

Super hero pizza man defeats nefarious villain.
A delivery driver for Galactic Pizza, a Minneapolis restaurant, recently defeated a purse-snatching neer-do-well with the assistance of some valiant bystanders.
Galactic, which is dedicated to delivering pizza with a community- and environmentally-friendly oriented business model, delivers pizzas with 100% electric vehicles and purchases all their energy from renewable sources. Indeed, their
vision of the future is refreshing to see from any American business. Oh, and their drivers wear
super hero costumes, which seems more than appropriate considering the ethics of both their business and their heroic workers.

About a year ago I got a traffic ticket which I thought was totally absurd. I didn't pay it. Not smart, I know. My registered address and living address have been different for all of that time, and so now that I'm ready to pay the ticket (since my license is now suspended and I have no insurance) I have no idea how to find out how much I owe and who to give it to so I can get my license reinstated. I'm in the USA...anybody had a similar experience?

It should be pretty obvious that stuff like

An interesting interview
with
Varg Vikernes. Vikernes, as you may recall, is currently imprisoned for the 1993 murder of Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous), with whom he collaborated as bassist on Mayhem's incredible
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (cheesy vocals notwithstanding). It is also widely believed that he was responsible for the burning of
Norway's first stave church, which has since been
rebuilt. It is arguable whether Vikernes is most notable for the murder, the arson, his band
Burzum, his dedication to
Ásatrú, or perhaps his fanatical racism. While I find many of his opinions to be reprehensible, his obvious intelligence and the strength of his convictions make him a fascinating, if frequently repugnant, person.
The story of Vikernes and the
black metal scene he helped spawn is chronicled in
Lords of Chaos, which is a phenomenal read and is recommended even to those who are not interested in the music it focuses on.

Any Magic: The Gathering players out there in MetaLand? What are some of your favorite cards? How about favorite combos? Do you have any seriously killer decks whose secrets you'll share? Lastly, how do you feel about the newest editions WotC have been putting out?

What
non iPod hard drive MP3 players are you impressed with? Which are you envious of? Are there any that should be avoided? I'm looking to buy one in the range of $200-300US, with sound quality (especially a rich low-end) being of primary importance. Thus I'd probably end up buying one with a 1.5G capacity that had great sound over a 5G player with only decent sound. Also, I'll probably be buying on eBay, unless anybody cares to persuade me otherwise.

Is there a way for me to access XP Pro's system restore utility if I can't get Windows to boot in any way? I have access to two computers in one room so making a boot disk of some sort is easily done, but I can't find any method from Google other than those which require a Safe Mode boot, which I can't pull off. More details can be provided if the answer isn't a simple "no."

The terror of a trapped mind is difficult to describe.
Have you ever awakened to complete immobility? If so, you probably suffer from
sleep paralysis, a condition that afflicts 25% of the American population. Such episodes, which usually only last for a few minutes, can frequently be accompanied by
bizarre hallucinations, and some believe the phenomenon is responsible for
alien abduction,
"Old Hag Syndrome", and the
incubus myth. Although most believe the disorder is genetic,
explinations vary.
Are you an experiencer? Then you understand how
frightening it can be. Luckily, you can
fight it.
(This is my first FPP in 3 years of reading, so comments and criticisms are very much appreciated.)
