Should I bother learning Dreamweaver CS3?
I, too, use DW as a glorified text editor. The auto-complete is nice, as is the find/replace. However, I probably never would have bothered with it if we didn't have it at work.

Also, I should say that I'm probably not using it to its full potential. For instance, I had no idea about the feature drjimmy11 mentioned.
(Thanks, drjimmy11!)

Create websites from the comfort of your own home!
I second unexpected. I do use Dreamweaver sometimes at work, but generally only in code view. It would be useless to me if I didn't know HTML & CSS.
You'll be surprised. The learning curve is less than a lot of people think. Look for some CSS tutorials.

borrowed characters in movies
Does voice acting count? A lot of the recognizable cartoon characters in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (Mickey Mouse, Yosemite Sam, etc.) were performed by actors who had voiced them many, many times before. For instance, Betty Boop was voiced by Mae Questel, who had been playing her since 1930.

Why can't you tell jokes about the Jonestown massacre?
The punch-lines are too long.
That's as intellectual as my jokes get.
Why, yes, Reginald, that's how Mussolini made the trains run on thyme. Guffaw, guffaw!
This reminds me of one of the puns from the CHUD.com podcast. The sequel to Time Cop? Paprika Legionnaire.

I second DarlingBri. Cussler's books are cartoonish, escapist fun. In one of his novels, he describes a female character as having "an hour glass figure, with an extra 15 minutes added for good measure."
Wasn't exactly sure how those 15 mins. were distributed.

Old west Mythbusters
I've only scanned the thread, and I'm not sure if you guys have done it already, but...
How about two bullets hitting in midair and stopping each other, melding together? As in a showdown at high noon.
In the same vein, shooting at a hat continuously, keeping it in the air. Like in For A Few Dollars More.
Also...
Please tell Kari that I want to marry her.

Is it possible for someone to be thrown onto a bar and slide all the way down its length, smashing bottles along the way?
Sounds like a job for Buster.

Shake dog shake
I suppose when a dog falls or plays rough, it instinctually shakes out in case it picked up anything accidentally. Bugs, leaves, etc. Same thing with waking up. Who knows what creepy crawlies may have made themselves at home while Fido was napping?

As Monty Python once said, "American beer is like making love in a canoe: fuckin' close to water."
That said, if he insists on going the cheap beer route, I second the Pabst suggestion. Schlitz is OK, as well.

Missing eBay package
I've been talking with USPS. It's really ridiculous. I've given them all the info twice, despite having a "case number." Not getting anywhere.

Boldly going...
Man, I really need to rewatch this show. I really liked it in junior high, then got too "cool" for it (started reading Gibson and the other cyberpunk folks, couldn't get into any other kind of SF). I still don't remember it as being great, but I have respect for a lot of elements (particularly Data's arch, completely destroyed in the movies). But, more than anything, I remember "Cause and Effect" blowing my undeveloped mind (many thanks to all of you for naming it for me).... [more]

Cost-effective, shared storage for Mac?
We're working with DV. The main thing right now is shared access, although we'll be picking up a number of new clients soon, so we may be dealing with a lot of media in the near future. As far as our budget, that's really kind of up in the air. I just know that I presented my bosses with pricing info on Xsan and they visibly flinched, then asked me to find some alternatives.
Thanks for all the info so far, guys. This is very helpful.

Series suggestions: Felicity, LOST, Alias...?
I second West Wing and Sportsnight. Also, Joss Whedon's shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly.

I also second Wonderfalls. Even briefer run (?) than Firefly, but very very witty and charming. Created by one of the writers from Buffy, I believe. Has a certain supernatural element, but not action-oritented in the way that Whedon's shows are.

A strong vote for A from me. A few details (the white robes, for instance) are interesting, but most of what you've "fleshed out" doesn't really need the fleshing.
