Fun date night for married couple
If you can get the grandparents to watch the kids overnight, pop off to a B&B up in wine country, or over to Half Moon Bay.

Greatest living orators?
Penn & Teller
Penn perhaps, but Teller is not exactly known for his oratory skills.

I left my heart in Paris.
Perhaps you can satisfy your wanderlust on a smaller scale. Get an apartment in a different neighborhood. There are dozens of neigborhoods around the city, each with its own character. You could move to a new neighborhod every year or two, and not run out for decades.

Unknown fantasy book title
Is it possilbe you are getting a couple stories intertwined here? The movie Excaliber ends with King Arther killing the bad guy in much the way you describe. There is a reconciliation of sorts as well between Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere.

what to use
If your camera is digital, you can also ask you question over at dpreview in the Canon lenses forum. Some lenses are interchangeable between digital and film cameras, so it may still be relevant.

Movies At Christmas, but Not About Christmas?
Just a couple off the top of my head:
The Poseidon Adventure (New Year's Eve)
Lethal Weapon
You can also look at The Movie Timeline, which offers a chronological listing of movie events. This google search should yield a few results.... [more]

The irony-it just burns me! My grill is on fire
I grill on a big charcoal Weber. I put the coals only on half of the grill. I then sear the steaks on both sides over the direct heat, and then move them to the indirect heat and put the lid on. Even if the coals flare-up while cooking, you don't have the steaks on there long enough to blacken.
The searing usually only takes a few minutes a side, so I keep an eye on it during this phase.
I found that when I used to cook the whole time over... [more]

What to take pictures of?
You should also plan on getting out early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Having the sun low in the sky will usually make a huge difference in the quality of your photos. The low sun will add more depth and interesting shadows to your photographs. Also, you get a softer light just before sunset.
The other thing I would do is learn about depth of field and how that is affected by the aperture settings. For example, a narrow depth of field around your subject... [more]

Please help me identify a short story
Summerland by Michael Chabon has a pitcher whose pitches disappear and reappear closer to the plate. They don't kill anybody however.

Colloquialism
A couple I'd heard from my Dad:
- "Like shit on a shoe, I've been around...",
- and once to my Mom: "I told you if you stuck with me, you'd be fartin' through silk."

winXP directory kerfuffle
This happened to me once. Its not possible to delete, but you should be able to move the lower levels of the tree to your root directory.
e.g. In explorer, go to the folder 140 levels deep, and move the contents to your C: drive. You can then delete the 10 folders from the C: drive. Keep repeating. Then go 130 levels deep, etc.....

Songs About Law(yers)
How about theme songs from all of the legal TV shows that have been broadcast over the years. Of course, you could always go with anything by Diana Ross & The Supremes.

Wine business/education
Winemaking at home, unlike beer brewing, has very little in common with making wine commercially.
Just curious; I was wondering if you'd be able to expound on that a bit. I thought it would be the same basic process, just on a smaller scale.
