AP Stylebook? I don't need no AP Stylebook.

Journalistic standards aside, should I use my subject's first or last name in a magazine profile?

Washington DC with kids

Washington, DC hotels: The kids and I are going to see Butterstick! next weekend. I haven't been to DC in a long, long time.

Never smile at a crocodile?

I'm reading Princesses, by Flora Fraser (which, OT, is a bit too much like school to be really enjoyable) and am interested in a term I don't understand.

Paper doll websites

My daughter (11) has been visiting paper doll websites. They seem harmless, I guess, but they are also squicking me out a little bit.

Activities for tween girls?

My daughter's having a sleepover tonight for her 11th birthday. Six friends are coming over. I had lots of outdoor activities planned for the dusk and early evening hours, but now it looks like it's going to rain all day so the backyard will be a mess. Any suggestions for fun indoor activities? Nothing worse than a chorus of "I'm booooooored," you know.

Disney World: Stay on or off the property?

Thinking about taking the youngins to Disney World in June. Daughter will be 11 and it will be her second trip. Son will be 4 1/2 - first time for him. Last time, we stayed at a Disney property: rode the shuttle buses, swam in the myriad pools, drank $2 cokes, etc. This time, cash flow is more of an issue so I'm looking at Kissimmee hotels. Just wondering, though, if the low price is worth losing the on-site amenities and convenience. Been there? Done that?

Migraineurs: Can a neurologist really help?

Chronic migraine sufferers, have you seen a neurologist? Did it help?

Kids and weight: What I thought was my 10 yo...

Kids and weight: What I thought was my 10 yo daughter's body transitioning (you know how sometimes they chunk up before they have a growth spurt) seems to be staying put. [mi]
