Flickr founders leaving Yahoo
I think Stewart is over the gne. Long over it, in fact. But I could be wrong. It was others at yahoo/flickr who brought it back, for the love of the game.

Houses with a view
Quin - At the start of October I spent some time on a houseboat, on a series of lakes up in Ontario, Canada. We saw several houses like that, and some on even smaller islands - looking like a strong wind might tip them into the water. They were absolutely awesome.

dinettes, we got it
So happy to see the Armi and Danny video linked on the blue. Same for the rapping commercial - both have given me so much enjoyment. Does that mean my life is a bit empty? I don't know, but what I do know is that I have a coworker who just has to imitate some of those music video's dance moves to have me in tears from the laughter. Telstar's comment had me giggling, too.
Did I just out myself for being someone who, at times, openly laughs at others? I guess so. Does it... [more]

OMG WTF NIN?
In the midst of all this NIN confusion I just want you to know I thought this post and the cheating post above it were the same. I just spent ten minutes staring at the NIN stuff wondering what it had to do with cheating. "Boy," I thought, "these people hide their point so well I can't find it."
(I really need some afternoon caffeine, don't I?)

Web 2.1?
Agreed. I was trying not to be another "Wahh, GNE, I miss it", but honestly? I do. I'm one of those "old skool"ers, and I haven't merged yet, but I imagine I will, with a minimum of grumps, before the deadline.
As for the contact limits - yeesh. I can't imagine anyone needing more than that. Of course I tend to weed through my contacts and get rid of people occasionally, and I may be unusual in that I like my contacts to actually *be* contacts and... [more]

No stop signs, speed limit, nobody's gonna slow me down
I considered this too, after several years commuting. I mentioned it to a friend, like hey, wouldn't it be cool if?
The friend said, "Yeah, and then you could figure out where they work and their names and post that. Or what they do for a hobby. Or their phone numbers."
Took me a second to pick up on the sarcasm. Then I decided it probably wasn't such a great idea after all.
But infinitewindow: I'd like that... [more]

The Flickr Central thread about this just had its name changed, thanks to this thread.
Made me giggle - it was changed from "Free hats and beards!" to:
"OMG, you are vandalizing my photography how dare you try and inject Christmas cheer into my life arrrgg"

Bad Ink, Bad Man/Boy
The mother's plea would make an excellent song.
Of course he's an all around perfect man, you can read it right there on his face. But it looks like he's taken - that Jolene, wow, lucky girl. Maybe he can find someone in prison to cover that sentence with "VOID", just to free him up a bit.
I was so disappointed that it *doesn't* say "I'm a pepper" on his forehead. I think that's an ice skate on his nose. Am I right?

Pets in Costumes!!!!!11!!!
I really heart all these photos, esp the cats.
What I like best is that I can now forward this link to my friends and say it is smarter than all the other costume email fwds because it was posted on mefi.
Seriously, no snark. Cute stuff. :)

I always wonder what they've done to the cats to get them to sit still long enough for a photo. I mean, my cats would be twisting and turning and walking low all over the place with things like that on their heads. Dogs are a bit more trainable, but yeesh, cats?

This is a good post. I wish I could favorite it more than once.
I question any elephant's "usefulness" in the US, but I also know their habitats are swiftly disappearing. I did a paper years ago for some college class and chose to write about the use of elephants in the entertainment industry (mostly circuses, although elephant rides were discussed as well) and it damn near broke my heart.
Ok, maybe you could get an elephant to work... [more]

Did I miss the logical steps that would take this from being an instance of grave digging to necrophilia? I keep re-reading the article in the last link...maybe I'm missing something.

Neti Pots
These actually work, as odd as it seems, and they really aren't as uncomfortable as you would think. I made fun of them too, but then about a year ago I had the worst cold ever and in my desperation, I ordered one. Cleared me up for hours in a way sudafed never did.
Of course it's also something my three boys never get sick of watching ever since my youngest walked in on me once - they think it's magic.

Heck... it works for our cattle
Not much of a contribution to this discussion, but I went to Brittan School for a few years. My visits back to Sutter in later years have impressed on me how completely miniscule the place was (and still is!). I'm really surprised to see it not only mentioned on Mefi but mentioned in a way that relates to technology.
(and: My kids have to wear laminated ID cards around their necks at school here near San Diego, but I've never heard of a school with RFID tags.)
