Here's
one for the bad irony files. I seem to have screwed myself thoroughly on the whole Flickr-->Yahoo transition. Anyone got advice on how to get genuine help from Yahoo "support"?

Flickr pulls the trigger on the Old Skool. The Old Skool takes the bullet
badly.

I know the issue of commercial urls in user profiles has been
discussed and neither Matt nor Jess give a damn. But really,
this is too much.

My cancers are so bad that I think I've arrived at the
end of the road. What a pity. I would like to
live not only because I love life so much, but because I'd like to see the result of the
trial. I do think I will be found
guilty."

I'm taking three months this summer to bike
cross-country with my father. Is there any way for us to have (reasonably) uninterrupted wireless internet on the route?

Dear Chicago-
How have you been? I've missed you and hope you've been well. Want to get a beer sometime and catch up?
Yours,

Anybody know where I can get another copy of the Drive By Truckers' live cover of "Hey Ya" that was making the rounds of the

My current laptop has become unstable and I've been forced to ditch it suddenly to get a new one. It functions, but I don't trust it. What are the ethics of reselling it?

Pope John Paul II has had a
heart attack. Soon, the
College
of
Cardinals will
assemble
to
choose
his successor. Even in death, however, this pontiff will exert extraordinary control over
the process, having
elevated an
unprecedented number of clerics to this body.
The choice of
Jaime Lucas Ortega y Alamino,
archbishop of Havana, would
continue
John Paul II's
legacy of opposition to communism and totalitarianism. Another frontrunner is the socially conservative Nigerian Cardinal
Francis Arinze.
Arinze would continue John Paul II's cultural legacy while
recognizing the
demographic reality
of modern global Catholicism. Also mentioned as a frontrunner is
Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga
of Honduras, a strong
proponent of third world debt relief. Progressives would welcome the elevation of German Cardinal
Walter Kasper,
an
advocate
for religious tolerance and pluralism, or the moderate Italian Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re,
a frequent
stand-in
during the Holy Week ceremonies. Conservatives favor Columbian Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos. Hoyos shares the Pope's
traditionalist vision
of a
church
at odds with modernity.
But the smart
money,
is on
Dionigi Tettamanzi.
