Seems more difficult than it should be. Password managers are much better, remember one difficult password (ala quanta and qualia's suggestion) and then let the password manager handle both the generation and storage of the rest.

I don't remember 98% of my passwords and change them frequently. I just go through the password manager to update them as necessary.

My Amtrak horror story:
I was taking a train to visit a friend in Chicago while they were doing a work placement. Apparently, at a specific day of the month, during a specific time, they perform track maintenance at some point along the route.

I think one of the critical points in all is is the actual browser market share. Safari and Opera can happily fight one another out for their respective less than 5% share of the market. As much as people might rail against IE and Firefox, keep in mind that they have a much, much larger install base that are absolutely counting on both backwards compatibility and a near 100% site support margin (specifically IE in the corporate intranet market).

God, some of you need to seriously calm the fuck down. It is a tool (just like the goddamned computer in front of you) and different people rely on them for a myriad of reasons. They are incredibly reliable devices (despite this story) and for a lot of very prominent businesses and positions within them, they're an absolute essential for on-job work that really does make an enormous difference.

I love this record. Granted, it took me a little while to get into it but I have a good excuse. I was blinded by my admiration of The Olivia Tremor Control. I was at an OTC show (back when the Horseshoe in Toronto was an Elephant 6 hotspot -- god, those were some amazing shows) and Jeff was pulled-up on stage for a few songs and it was a veritable lock for me.

I picked-up On The Airplane after that show and never looked back. Can't believe that it's been ten years.

Have to agree with languagehat. As cool as the proposal might be, I just can't see how the benefits will outweigh the numerous obstacles in the Bering Straight bridge. The extreme temperatures, very tumultuous water, miles of roadway that would need to exist to even get to the bridge, the fact that it will most likely have to be closed during certain times of the year etc. can't make any potential investors feel secure about it.

The auto-correct features have been around since god was a kid. Both A-9 and Suretype uses those features and having spent a good amount of time with both of them, you'll have to pry the full button qwerty from my cold, dead hands.

The full browser will be great. The interface for anything outside of typing will be great. The network will suck and anything involving more then a few words of text will probably be horrendous.

The best secured systems are the ones that don't allow access to the usernames. The login name and the public display should be two separate fields. That way, you can set your public name to whatever you want and hopefully (if everything was designed properly) there are two pieces of data that a potential attacker would have to figure out.

I participated in a Naked for Peace sign when I was younger and it was a blast. It is not necessarily something I would do regularly (and I haven't in the last five years), but it is a lot more invigorating then I anticipated.

A friend of mine really talked me into it and I've always been grateful for it. Sadly, none of the aerial photographs turned-out well (which is unfortunate since hundreds of people participated) but that's hardly the point.
