Allow me to nerd out briefly on behalf of one of our own. Say, Mr. William "I invented cyberspace" Gibson, what were you listening to while writing your new bestseller
Spook Country?
Why, I was listening to
Brad Sucks, nanojath! (see Sept. 1 entry)

Is it kosher to sell your MeFi account to someone else?

Is it just me, or did my autoformatting buttons vanish with my last Firefox update (I assume this is the cause, as the two coincided)? If I have to start hand-coding hyperlinks again I will probably just go into an unresponsive fugue state instead.

Now that the
Metafilter Compilation Album is actually shipping, might it warrant a sidebar mention on the front page? I'll put a little more inside.

Are cover songs on Metafilter Music really legally okay?

I noticed that the download icon in Mefi Music vanished when I logged out. Is this intentional (to cut down bandwidth demands)?
The dl links go to a straightforward .mp3 files, though, so I'm assuming that you could link to one of those (on your blog, say) and a non-member could download a song by clicking on the link. But would that be wrong?

This seems like a blatant self-link, whatever the poster
might say. What say y'all? And should I just have flagged it and moved on?

Mefi Librarian Call-Out?
I'm tickled by the idea that Metafilter is a
secret bastion of (potentially erm, "turned-on") librarians. I wish
Iwas a librarian. I think all the librarians on Metafilter should sign in here and band together at suitable meet-ups to form an army of goodness that (please God please God please God) will take over the world.
