The metro system is quite good and easy to navigate. A cab will run you somwhere around 40-60 euros. IIRC there is also a shuttle that goes from the airport to Opera for around 15 euros.

You could breeze through the Louvre in a day, but you won't get much time in any one section. If you like walking for 10 hours and want to see the big sights, try this tour:

I tried many recipes with all kinds of unnecessary ingredients before I settled on this one. It is about as simple as it gets:

5 roma tomatoes diced
1/2 red onion diced
1 tsp salt
1/2 jalepeno de-seeded, finely minced
2 tbsp cilantro chopped
juice of 1/2 lime

I sometimes add a splash of Corona to it -- "a touch of Mexico" as I like to explain to my wife -- but really it is just an excuse to crack a beer.

The "i" prefix predates the iMac. It was widely used, along with e- prefix to "internetify" things by clever marketers in at least '96 if not earlier.

You may also have worsened your problem by trying all three. The disk sharpener will give it a very slight concave edge, the rod sharpener will give it a perfect V, and the steel, if not done perfectly, will give it an inconsistent V-ish shape perhaps with some concave. So if you try all three in a row you probably rounded your edge...

If you decide against the gel stain, Danish Oil is worth considering. It will keep the natural color of the maple and bring out the grain nicely. Easy to apply too.

It doesn't offer much in the way of protection, so if you plan on eating on the surface or putting coffee cups on it, you should add a further layer of clear finish for protective purposes.

I'll third the lightbox suggestion... I wish I had done that. I picked up a flatbed for similar reasons "just to evaluate" pics. For the amount of time it takes and the quality you will get out (even for eval) it is not worth it.

What type of network are you on? Hotel? Front desk should be able to tell you if the problem is yours of if they have had other complaints.
