Bearded Hollywood nights costume
A lot of this depends on your build and appearance. if you are heavyset your options are different from they would be if you are more slight.
A heavy Lebowski fan with short hair and a beard could get a khaki vest, shooting glasses, and a bowling shirt and go as Walter Sobchak.
You could also "misunderstand" the theme and come as a Holy Rood Knight, a Knight from the court of Mary Queen of Scotts.

On the other hand, It might just be that they can't award the prize to more than 3 individual and they wanted to credit the 2 for AIDS that made the greatest contributions to science with their discovery rather than just the "first"

I will admit that when I saw the beer response I winced. but then I remembered that the SAT's have a reading comprehension section and that the majority of people don't get a perfect score on that section.

I broke my leg! Should I pursue compensation?
IANAL Many health insurance companies have entire departments for just this sort of incident. In there eyes the real damages are to their bottom line. You may have an "equitable recovery" clause in your contract so that any money recovered goes toward the money they paid already.

I still have some original D20s marked as D10s. When I started all D20s were labeled 0-9 and you just used 2 different colors of crayon to mark the numbers high and low. for a d10 you just ignored the colors.

What, you know him too?
I have been in IT for 12 years and never had entirely competent management chain. There is always somebody who is so old that he thinks ethernet is a new fangled flash in the pan, or who has an MBA from University of Pheonix online, but thinks he can establish network security policy, or started off in this business back when everybody had a secretary to type for him and everybody had an ashtray on their desk.

Women also buy bathing suits that can't be submerged and pay good money to have somebody NOT clip their fingernails for them.
They waste thousands straightening curly hair, lengthening short hair, bleaching dark hair, darkening blond hair, and curling straight hair.
Just go to the grocery or drug store. thinking rationally, how many feet of shelf are taken up with completely unnecessary stuff?

Why is the weight of the Blotter used to calculate the charges in an LSD case?
they should chemically analyse the cocaine or crack and charge you by the number of molecules of the prohibited drug found in your posession. That could include blood tests for people who are just really jumpy.
basic chemistry and math tells us the expected number of cocain Molecules and we would have a consistent policy.

A Wiffleball field is absolutely tiny compared to even a little league diamond.
you could probably fit their entire feild in the infield of a baseball diamond.

camping hacks
If you are Camping rather than RVing or Backpacking you might want a good chair. having a comfy chair to relax by the fire makes all the difference. you can get a cheapie almost anywhere but I recommend getting a quality one. I love my MaxxDaddy I use it all the time because it works just as well in non camping portable seating settings. Smaller people might not need such a throne, but you will probably be spending hours by the fire and sitting on a log is not very nice.... [more]

If some of you had your way and banned guns across the US, you would have thousands of mogadishus and ramadis starring whatever mercenaries or federal agents you sent out to collect those illegal weapons.
You have no idea of the thousands of rounds of armor piercing high velocity rifle rounds that are floating around the cities and towns of this nation. (just about any decent rifle can go through most body armor)

Inconvenient Truths: Get Ready to Rethink What It Means to Be Green
Coal plants release radiation into the air that you breath in the form of Thorium, Radium, and nearly every other radioactive isotope and element. if you were to count on one hand the number of people accidentally killed by reactors designed after 1965 you would have 5 fingers left. Incompetence and bureaucracy were needed to even make the incredibly dangerous RBMK design of Chernobyl explode.
Solution, don't put incompetent bureaucrats in charge of nuclear plants. Have... [more]

If I have the compass from my car and my solar powered watch I would invent longitude and be the only person who can navigate across worlds oceans.
When you look at the huge amount of money that successful ocean voyages earned, you could live pretty well off them.

The Bush White House "upgrades" the e-mail system.
We put Jim Lovell in orbit around the moon in less time than it has taken the Bush whitehouse to figure out it's email backups.
From the day Kennedy challenged the nation at Rice University, to the December 1968 Apollo 8 Lunar orbit was approximately 7 years and 3 months. In that Time Bush hasn't accomplished a single God damned thing. Kennedy and LBJ and fought a bloody war, held off the Russians and still fucking got things done!!

A Reckoning with those who say that the tolerance of some of my best friends and my wife's mere existence causes hurricanes and terrorist bombing. A reckoning with those who would give those most dangerous and unstable 10% power because they tell them what they want to hear? Why would I want a reckoning with those fine folks?
