Where do I go to look up global commodity supplies?

How do I look up current global commodity supplies? Even better, is there somewhere I can compare global commodity prices versus their supply and consumption rates over an extended period?

Anachronism, but for place instead of time

What's a good word for 'a spatially or geographically incongruous person/event/object', as an analogue to anachronism, which is 'temporally incongruous'? (New words okay)

How much money is my data worth?

I sent an almost-new laptop into the service department of a very reputable computer company for repair and they replaced the hard drive on it and threw away all my data without asking. There was nothing wrong with the hard drive. What is a reasonable request on them to make up for this?

This huge thread kills Safari/OmniWeb. I'd like there to be a preference that allows me to see massive posts broken up by 100s of comments or something. Alternatively, is there a different CSS file that can be loaded for these that will keep Safari/OmniWeb from crashing?

Recommend me some touchy-feely scifi!

Recommend some sappy science fiction/fantasy to me please! I've read and liked Anthony, Heinlein, Goodkind, Card, Stephenson, Martin, and Rowling, but what I'm really looking for is touchy-feely stuff.

Another Clay Institute Millenium Prize Problem Solved?

The Navier-Stokes equations constitute the fundamental equations that describe fluid mechanics, and are used everywhere from atmospheric science to airplane design. Proof of the existence of a smooth solution to the Navier-Stokes equations in 3-dimensions is considered a challenging problem, so challenging that the Clay Math Institute has offered a million dollars to anyone who can do so. Has it been done? (More detailed explanation). (via)

Name our soccer team, oh great AskMetafilter. I want something funny, potentially crude, potentially offensive, and hopefully tied in with the fact that we play for an applied math and physics department.

Honey, get elua beers out of the fridge, would you?

It is an official language in this US State, and if somebody writes you a check in it while you're here, you better know your numbers. Although its usage fell after a sharp decrease in the native speakers' population and a later 'ban', (not really) in the late 19th century, it is now making a comeback. Wikipedia gets its name from the language. Sadly, though there are almost 4 million Wikipedia articles, a scant 27 of them are written in it. Of course, if you just need a dictionary, it's not hard to find.

How do I transfer title on a vehicle in Chicago I haven't registered?

So I bought a truck from my brother-in-law and brought it over to Chicago from San Francisco last August. I have a transfer of title from him but I have never registered the vehicle (oops). Now I'm leaving the country and selling the truck to a friend. What's the easiest way to transfer title to him?

How do I prevent OS X keybindings from over-riding my applications?

How do I prevent OS X keybindings from over-riding my applications? For example, when programming in Emacs the auto-complete feature is normally bound to command-tab. By default, if I press command-tab in my Emacs session it will try to tab out to other open programs. How do I let OS X know to leave command-tab alone?
