I was at one of the games where Abbott got a hit. Jon Lieber gave it up at Wrigley Field in a 7-4 win. It was against the Cubs, DevilDance, need any more explanation?

I want to say it was a bunt single, for obvious reasons, but a nagging part of me thinks he may have taken an actual swing at the ball. I had a few Old Styles in me at that point...

I like Bill Simmons, but I think this guy's writing is a little more contemplative and therefore more entertaining for me. Perhaps this is because Shirley writes only to please himself.

As far as our policy has been, I think all Bush has really done has been to accelerate the waiting game that has been going on for years. Did anyone see this regime lasting much longer? The wisdom in this administration's refusal to placate remains to be seen.

One might also wish to consider possible improvements in how energy is transported.

Still kinda pie in the sky maybe, but no less so than some of the other technologies listed here. It seems to me that learning to manipulate materials at the molecular level is key to a host of technologies that could have an impact on the economy.
