As a child, I was an American expat,
growing up in Scotland. This time of year I have many fond memories of Christmas Pantomines, Christmas Pudding, Paper Crowns & Crackers, 'Cadbury's Christmas Selection Boxes,' etc.' I also remember getting copies of year-end "annuals," particularly the 'Beano Annual' and the 'Blue Peter Annual.' There were many others, but I am at a loss for remembering their titles. What are/were some of the others published at Christmastime?

A friend has asked me if I am familiar with any 'off-the-shelf-software' applications for the staffing business ...

New Year's in Reykjavik. A group of friends are heading to Iceland in December/January. I've read this
previous post and found some ideas for things to do. Any suggestions on hotels (price is not a concern) from those who have been there?

This evening I watched the final episode of "
Into the West" on TNT.
After watching the series, I realize that I know very little about Native American history - most particularly during the period depicted - roughly
1827 - 1892 [PDF].
What resources (books, DVD's, etc.) do you recommend from which I can learn more - particularly from a Native American perspective?

So, what books are on your
summer reading list (or, your winter reading list for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere)?

Tonight I went with fellow
Red Sox fans to see the new film "
Fever Pitch", based on
Nick Hornby’s book - altered to focus on a Boston fan’s obsession with the local baseball team.
Being a "
native son" myself, and aware of the fan specific traditions – such as the recent Fenway Park "group-sing-along" of
Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" at the bottom of the 7th. /top of the 8th. (not to mention “
Take Me Out To The Ballgame”, etc.), what other traditions (old, or new) have been established for any and all sports teams/events here in the U.S.A. and elsewhere in the world?

What is it that motivates you to "participate" in online communities? Why do you share your thoughts, feelings, ideas and creativity with faceless others online?
