I wish Greene had been challenged to explain string theory in 2 minutes. He couldn't of course, but the idea of trying might have cause the "Elegant Universe" miniseries to have been chopped in half, down to a tolerable length. Oh...and without all the cheesy graphics...

It always drove me nuts to watch "The Weakest Link" because it was clear that none of the contestants understood any game theory. The best strategy on that show would be to vote off the weakest player. Keep the strongest, and the pots would get bigger. Invariably, they would vote off the smartest players and end up with small pots.

Same thing with Survivor and Big Brother, although in those long duration games, it would be much harder to apply game theory.

I think the point of the preservation is for education, outreach, historical purposes and for preservation of the architecture, which having only seen the pictures, I find to be quite striking. As for "far away", it's centrally located in the middle of the continent. Closer to most places than Hawaii or Chile.

Do you know where Orion is? Or the Pleiades cluster (small group of stars that looks like a really small dipper)?

Right now the comet is about to pass by the Pleiades. For a mid-latitude observer at this time of year, Orion rises in the East early in the evening. The Pleiades is above and to the right of Orion as you look at it.
