I am looking for new things to amuse and delight a two-year old in an urban setting. Most activities are for slightly older kids, so other urban parents, any tips or tricks for fun activities we can do together? Bonus points for Boston-specific suggestions.

I have to organize a party for academics in Anaheim. Can anyone suggest some fun bars or restaurants by the convention center/Disneyland?

Help me dedicate my book! I am dedicating my upcoming book to my wife and baby daughter, and am searching for inspiration. What are the most memorable dedications that you have seen?

What's the coolest non-traditional use of games (especially video games) that you have ever heard of?

My 18 month old baby loves to pound on the computer keyboard in imitation of her mom and dad. Does anyone have any experience with programs that would both prevent her from deleting all of our files while providing an entertaining experience?

I need help putting some data in a pleasing graphical form. In short, it is a history of a particular industry, with all of the companies, their founders and where they came from. I would like to build some sort of corporate family tree like
this famous one. Does anyone know any good tools for this?

A need a ringtones, but I hate ringtones: My iPhone's built-in ringtones aren't very good, so I'll have to buy one off iTunes. The problem is that I want something I can use in a business setting, and that is discrete, pleasant, and loud enough to hear. Can you suggest a song I should buy as a ringtone?

I am working on a book on the use of games and simulations for training by businesses - have any of you played or seen a game like this? I am thinking of anything from the
Beer Game to the
Virtual University sim to a specific game built for your company.
(If you have in-depth experience and wouldn't mind being interviewed about your adventures, let me know in your response.)

Anyone have good experiences with any inexpensive transcription services? I am looking to send digital files of interviews out to be transcribed. The material is not too technical, and accuracy needs to be very good, but doesn't need to be legal-document perfect. I am mostly looking for low cost and decent quality. Any thoughts?

Audible.com rocks. I have listened to two books a month on various devices for the past six years, and the well of known winners is getting a bit dry. Help me (and anyone else who is interested) find some great new finds from Audible's collections, especially in nonfiction or science fiction/fantasy. A few conditions (and my suggestions) inside...

I love to read ebooks (especially science fiction or fantasy) but I need some help finding good ones. The existing ebook sites like Fictionwise are terribly organized, and tend to have more obscure titles, rather than standard favorites. So, hive-mind, any good ebook sites you would suggest? Any good ebook finds in the science fiction and fantasy genre you would recommend?

Say I want to make my name ring out through the ages. What is the best way, for a few grand or so, to make sure that I am remembered for as long as possible? Going for great achievements seems ambitious and too much work, and I am not interested in being known for great crimes. I am thinking more along the lines of the old statues-in-the-desert angle. Any ideas?

Eight-Hundred-And-Fifty-Four-Year-Old-Restaurant-Filter: I would love to plan a trip to (or at least verify the existence of) the oldest restaurant in the world, supposedly founded 1153 AD. It is called Ma Yu Ching's Bucket Chicken House, and it is located in Kaifang, China. Anybody able to help?

Price-my-non-radioactive-rocket-Filter: I have a family heirloom whose value I would love to learn (not that I am planning on parting with it, but out of curiosity). It is a piece of the Vanguard1A, the first attempt by the US to reach space, which exploded rather famously in December, 1956.

I am interested in teaching personal financial literacy (insurance, savings, credit cards, FICO scores) through games. I heard about
this from Well's Fargo, but I was hoping for something more compelling. Does anyone know of any good financial literacy games out there? Does anyone have any good ideas for one?

1999-all-over-again-Filter: Remember the time when every ecommerce site or online exchange had an interesting twist? I am trying to compile a list of
current clever/interesting/"disruptive" ecommerce sites or exchanges. Companies like CafePress, CDBaby, and Band.Mix would all qualify. Can anyone help point me to some additional examples of ecommerce sites that reach previously fragmented or diffuse groups?

I am working on an academic project in which a significant question has come up -- why do people distribute software as freeware (not open source) or shareware in situations where it is just as easy to distribute it commercially, using systems like Palmgear or Handango? Is it because developers don't think these projects are as valuable, or are there other reasons? Does anyone have either written evidence or personal experiences to share?

I am putting together some research, and wanted to poll fellow MeFiers about what they think are the five (or two or ten)
most influential or important open source projects, currently being worked on and why. Linux and Firefox are obvious, so what others would qualify -- Gaim? OpenCRX? I want to know your list, and why these would make it.
