Russian tanks and jets roll into Georgia
I was alerted to this development through this post. Then I started reading the comments. I guess I'll go elsewhere. Any suggestions as to where I can follow what's happening without any in fighting/snark?

Library of Dust
Those tins look quite small. They must have had a good crembola unless they did it by hand. The earliest reference I can find to equipment is 1959 [paging ColdChef].

I think not. Is he saying that the corporeal existence is manifesting itself in... [more]

This is likely not exactly the point the photographer was trying to make
Hey! David. How's it going. Want to catch up and discuss?

Q: What exactly, was the point you were trying to make?
A: Copper is gorgeous.
Q: How does this relate/combine with the tortured souls that lived in this place?
A: I make nice pictures.
Q: Have you anything more to add?
A: Well actually, now that you mention it, I have a book with haunting images that depict strangely beautiful copper canisters, each containing the cremated remains of individual patients from an Oregon psychiatric... [more]

Why is baseball even in the Olympics?
So losers like me could still see an Olympic event. I left it too late at the Sydney 2000 games and it was the only event I could buy tickets to. Not only that, it was the women's baseball. The only excitement was when the security thugs chucked out the Korean supporters for beating their drums too loudly.

All or none of the above, possibly, maybe, (it's beyond my ken). I just wanted to say, Hi! Iosephus

The best, long-awaited feature (for me) is the ability to share imported bookmarks. Thanks dreamyshade.

I think the new delicious seems a lot faster (as someone who uses it every day and has over 2000 bookmarks)
I have a lot more than that and it's the reason I stopped using it. It slowed to a crawl when posting. I used Mento in the interim because it was super, zippy, fast. This incarnation of delicious it just as fast as Mento and because of my legacy links I'll be going back. Now I just need to figure out the most efficient way to get my Mento links into delicious.... Is there a list of Sysco restaurants or a Sysco look up?
Here are some (nothing after 2004 though).

an alarming number of otherwise calm and decent people turn into assholes when they enter a restaurant.
Especially those 'pretentious assholes' and those that have 'absolutely no idea what they're talking about'. They're often called 'restaurant patrons' or more commonly 'customers' or 'punters'
my advice is patronize restaurants that serve consistently good food and stop being such pretentious assholes. the majority of you have absolutely no... [more]

Anecdotally here:
My brother-in-law. He has to be the best butcher in South Australia. If you are a meat eater and you live is South Australia, Adelaide in particular, (Central Markets) you will know O'Connells Meats. He sources local meat and seafood (at Christmas) and processes it all himself. He's up at 5am most days and home by whenever, because he knows the best is hard to find, he really works hard. I would put his product streets ahead of anything Sysco has to offer.

I am appalled at the level of innacuracy here. I made light of this resource by stating that there is no record for Theodore Kaczynski and linking to the record of 'George W Bush of Texas'.
I expected outrage at the ease at which you can retrieve information about your relative/friend/neighbour. Some members queried the site about people in their life. The results were sometimes innacurate. Some users of other systems have pointed out that more accurate and current information can be... [more]

I don't want to speak to your particular circumstance TheOnlyCoolTim, because I know nothing of it. But I would say: No. Absolutely not. We should not 'conduct our judicial processes in secret'. The public record is there and it is necessary. This site lists a bunch of traffic violators as criminals because of decades-old offences. Some of the items seems trivial to me. Is it beneficial that this information is given to you? e.g. Other: Traffic offence, 96.6% of 32.4% of 'Other crimes'. I think... [more]

The Kennedy clan (a particular subset of political nutjobs, aside) was to my mind, the best of America. I believed in them.
I believe in transparency. I feel this could be a revisionist version of history (through omission) though. The way that it guides you through a series of links providing information that the site creator feels are relevant or germane seems dangerous to me.... [more]
