If you don't know the answer, don't answer the question. It's that simple.

We've already had several, and we don't need any more links to
Keith Olbermann ranting. By now we're all well aware of Keith Olbermann and his editorial opinions, and links to his most recent outraged rant don't belong on MetaFilter just like editorial rants by Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, or Andy Rooney don't belong here.

I'm looking for a post--either on the front page or in Ask MetaFilter--about a website that offered work-for-trade, or work-for-services, or some such. I remember the site could be used, for example, by a bricklayer and a painter, where the painter needed a new patio and the bricklayer needed his house painted--sort of an eBay for trade skills. I can't remember if it was an FPP, or a link posted as part of a comment, or an answer to an AskMetaFilter question. Anyone?

The "
View Category" link in the sidebar works if you're logged in, but if you're not logged in, you get:
Error Executing Database Query.
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]The datepart function requires 2 arguments.

This smells like chatfilter--the circumcision of Stalin's declawed cats kind of chatfilter.

If I'm not logged in,
this thread--and others like it with a high post count--freeze Firefox midway through loading the page. But if I'm logged in, no problems. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ask Metafilter questions like
this one lead me to propose a "Consult An Attorney Immediately" block of text to insert somewhere in the thread. The purpose of such a line of copy would be to protect Matt/MetaFilter/users from liability--is this possible and/or necessary?

Are crackpot September 11
conspiracy theories the best of the web? Do we need more posts like these? Twice in one week? I think not.

Not MetaFilter-related, I know, but does anyone know what happened to

Save flogging, there's no bigger thrill:
Like watching starved wolves at a kill,
When users MeFi
Grab pitchforks and cry,
"How dare you fill
blue with your shill!"
I found
this post and the technology fascinating, and I don't consider it a shill for the product. But then I began wondering why it
wasn't considered a shill post--if a product is cool enough, does it transcend the shill factor? What separates a shill post from a post about a nifty gadget? Or is it just a collective "We know shill when we see it"?
