MeFi post: canada does it again
I used to drink about one of these a day as a kid. Juice, pop - they were all second to my beloved milk.

Then the lactose intolerance kicked in. :(

MeFi post: Free weather data via XML
Peter Rukavina has created some neat feeds from the Farmer's Almanac, including the moon phases.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre also has two RSS Hurricane Feeds.

Right on.

MeFi post: A Day of Wrest
I was secretly rooting for both sides. I wanted NS to vote it down because here in Prince Edward Island it would be another sign of our stubborn backwardness if we were the last jurisdiction in North America to ban Sunday shopping (can anyone in the states confirm that?) I wanted them to vote "Yes" so that if I found myself in Nova Scotia on a weekend, I wouldn't have to play the "Does the drugstore have that?" shopping game.

MeFi post: Talkin' Engery
A million people seems like a big number, but I wonder if it's that hard. I've read estimates that there are 50 million people in North America and 100 million people in Europe interested in sustainable energy.

Oil prices are high and the mideast doesn't seem like it's going to stabalize anytime soon. Perhaps Talk Energy is coming at the right time.

MeFi post: Now it's time to KICK SOME BACK!
Here's a lesson from the Will Pate school of violence avoidance:

Do your best Hunter S. Thompson impression. The absolute confusion it creates in your opponent causes him to give up because he knows he'll get nothing useful out of you. Works wonders with drunks.

I'd be interested to know if this could be used as a money generator for economically disadvantaged places like Atlantic Canada. The fishing industry is on its deathbed, so we need to do something productive with our bounty of water.... [more]

MeFi post: The CEO of Ernie Ball talks about how his company left Microsoft for Linux after a licensing fiasco.
You have to pay the legal fees of a softare anti-piracy group that counts all the major vendors as its members? If they really cared so much, why don't they pay for their own lawyers? Does this not open the door for abuse between competitors or just disgruntled employees?

Hopefully they don't have the same draconian powers in Canada, too.

I can't wait to make the switch to Open Source for my business. Does anyone know where I can find a good... [more]
