Cool! I'm forwarding on to my Dad. He's a new iPhone user, and new Mefite as well! (I have to forward, because without my prodding, he won't notice. Hi Dad!)

Good Work FPPers!
I like this callout. And I'd like to chalk it up to people learning. Personally, I find a bunch of stuff that I'd like to post, and I agonize over each one (and I'm still working on a couple). Sometimes, I search, and find it's a double. Other times I just look at it and go, "Mmm, no. That's not post-worthy."
Anyway... Hooray for us!

More tips & hints on a good post
Honestly, hadn't thought of that. Just like it didn't occur to me that non-members couldn't access JREF forum threads. I can be a bit of a dolt at times. But, hey... live and learn.

Meta-Scary
My party was a success. Most of the drinks turned out great. I especially liked the Corpse Reviver. And people were grossed out by the Mad Eye Martini garnishes (mine were with raspberries - blueberries were not available). However, word to the wise, the Bloody Brain is nasty! Way too sweet.
Pictures are in the works...... [more]

Damn! You guys (and gals) have some kick-ass costumes! (And a pox upon our internet police for not letting me see anything at photobucket, or livejournal! Grrr.)
Anyway, for what it's worth, here are some pictures from the party. I wish I had taken more shots. Especially of the drinks. Oh well.
BTW, I'm the dufus dressed as Lemuel Gulliver.

Fun Trick or Treat House Thread
All I did was lean out of a friend's second story window with a rubber spider on a string all night, slowly lowering it onto passersby.
miss lynster rules! You can come to my house this year and help scare the kiddies (and adults). Good times, indeed!

MetaFilter logo on the front, "your favorite bike sucks" tagline on the back.
Why not logo on front, username on back? Seriously, I like the idea of a MetaFilter jersey.

Thanks for posting this again Chuckles!
Dang! If only I had done those 35 miles like I wanted on Wednesday, I would have stayed in 10th place. Oh well, this is good incentive for September!

Cycling challenge, end of week 1
How did I not know about this? (Just signed up.)
This year I have been quite slack - less than 300 miles so far. But I have the Tour de Cure on Sunday, so the 62 miles there should help. And maybe this will help me try a little harder to commute by bike...

Preferred method of quoting others' comment?
I've used several different methods (not always consistently, sorry). To me, it's all about clarity. Sometimes, bolding the username helps. If it's a long thread, adding a link in there can help as well.
And yes, the @ is annoying.

Dear Matt: If enough of us bitch loudly enough,...
Kwanstar - I was wondering why the concern. Speaking as a long time lurker, and relative noob (at the 11/04 spike), it seems to me that a lot of snarkiness comes from the "older" crowd. Personally, I tend to be very conscious of myself whenever I comment (yes, even here!).
But it's up to user #1. His house, his rules. All hail user #1!!!

Maybe. Our Internet Police are on the job. But would that still be the case if I'm still able to post successfully after a try or two? Just wondering...
My solution is just to select the text of my comment, paste it, and try again.

Happy Anniversary, newbies. [more...
Newb here. Just want to say, the only real difference I've seen between lurking days, and full member status is the increase in AskMe - lots more questions now! And, yes, they sometimes do drop off the front page quickly. Nature of the beast.
Also, I try to do my best to work against my newbish stereotype, and post good stuff. But like terpsichoria, I've been beaten to the punch a few times. Finding good stuff for MeFi can be tough - you guys are good!
